He created it with the intention of showing readers the point-of-view of a middle-aged protagonist. He also projected the creators of the manga (himself included) onto the middle-aged characters in the story. Oku jokes that while there are no aliens or UFOs like his other manga, he hopes readers will see Kanrekihime’s story through to the end.
I saw someone on that xitter post basically saying they got filtered by this manga. I'm not gonna lie it's a rough read for me too the subject and themes are not only fucked but also cringe inducing. Him saying there's no aliens means there's no out for it either, just raw human nature being projected.
