Aizen's motivations and backstory were kept from the reader, but that kept him intriguing. Yhwach's backstory was incredibly flat, he was pretty much just evil for the sake of evil. Imu's backstory is years away, but there are already some intriguing points set up for it to be expanded on.Obito's backstory is one of the worst backstories in the series, stupid and nowhere near traumatizing enough to justify his bullshit.

I think rereading the manga has made me realize that Jiraiya is the only character that's actually well written in this series. He's made to be a strong and wise older person, but he's not invincible and he's still a flawed person, and the flaws he has don't make him exaggeratedly evil or irredeemable. That's different from someone like Minato who's a flawless Gary Stu or Itachi who's treated like a saint despite all the genocide and mind raping he did. Sure, his dead against Pain is a bit bs and forced, but he's still overall a solid character.
