>>291091708Me after reading the chapter 50 of Kengan Omega.
Despite all the hubbub about Suteguma, I've always felt he never quite lived up to it. It's very basic I will bluff with the resources I have against a master bluffer who does the same type of shit all the time and then not suspect him of double bluffing me. Literally just walked straight into the trap. >I will give up one of my guesses to make him think I cannot have a number above 7>I will fake a tell to make him think he's guessed my number>Yes, he fell for it!>I have won and he has lostThat's all he did.
>>291092162That is not all he did
>>291092162he took Baku's eye
>>291092162In contrast, what Baku did is also extremely simple.>I will pretend to fall for it but not really! However, as Nowa puts it, it's putting it all into action that makes the big difference. Baku would have died if he was wrong. However, He hasn't fully lost yet, after all.
>>291092162Pretty much, these final chapters of the gamble expose him and end all the mystique surrounding him. He’s an overrated gambler. All gamblers get taken down in humiliating fashion by Baku but Suteguma still gets rated highly as one of his toughest opponents for some reason

>>291092768Yeah, the sniper fucked up his plan but he made a good recovery by going for the eye.

>>291092692Suteguma entered a fake number on purposeThen Baku told Marco to enter a certain number in front of Suteguma, except he privately told him previously to not actually do thatNow Suteguma entered the actual first guess at a number in the match but it was wrongThere is one more attempt allowed on account of the fact that Marco never actually entered a number
Ranko anons and yumejo are always eating good.
>>291092692Suteguma and Baku pick a number from 1-10.There is an ATM that needs a password where the last 2 digits are 2-20.They get 2 guesses each, Suteguma and Hyougo, Baku and Marco, but the ATM only takes up to 3 guesses total. The Dotty game is a death game they can play on the side to sus out the other's number. They're not allowed to guess a number they know cannot be true on the Dotty game, so if Suteguma has 9, he wouldn't be able to guess 8 in the Dotty game.Suteguma has Hyougo enter 8 in the actual ATM to bluff not having 8+ as his number despite knowing it is wrong.Suteguma blows out Baku's eye so he can't use the ATM.Suteguma and Baku play a bunch of Dotty games to sus each other out with Suteguma taking for granted Baku's last guess of 13 as genuine.Baku orders Marco to guess 13, but that was a fake order and instead he was to relay everything I've summarized to Ranko.Suteguma enters what he thinks is the password he finally sussed out.It isn't.Baku has Marco enter the real password and wins.Baku's only major issue with sussing out Suteguma is determining if the first 8 guess was a bluff. He does it by measuring killing intent. If he truly intends to kill him, then Suteguma is not bluffing, however he very much felt killing intent. But he was able to deduce his non-killing intentions from a bunch of other stuff.

>>291093493I've always considered the tower arc overrated. The reread didn't change that. Billy felt wasted, the fights dragged the arc quite a bit for what was overall a simple game. The simple game being a bluff from Suteguma who is then counter bluffed and never suspects it. The Dotty game's deadly blood injection aspect is also purely bait.

Not even gonna spoiler it because it should be obvious enough, but tomorrow we're getting the ranking battle. Get hype. The entirety of it if OP posts 6 chappys
>>291094941What other people are saying about being a pessimist refusing the most obvious solution, but also, it's a statement about how he never truly was gambling with Baku. He never once made a proper read on Baku and instead went forward assuming his plan was working and Baku was acting within that plan. It's why they showcased that flashback game with him versus Hyougo where they made a point of saying Suteguma never bothered making reads against Hyougo, just playing by card probability/fundamentals.The reality is Suteguma is not a gambler. At all. He simply makes a plan and assumes the worst luck. This is in essence "perfect" if you truly can plan for all the holes in the boat, but ultimately, he did not. Rather he refused to see his boat was never seaworthy in the first place.
>>291095128That's such a giraffe thing to say
>>291095128I don't deserve to be called out just because to choose to live as a tapir does

>>291095043Rather than Ranko tricking him, I'm guessing he thought it was Baku tricking Ranko and that's why he guessed 10/why she says he "lost to Usogui completely"

>>291095546She says that because Baku has the entire situation figured out by the time his note is handed to her, whereas Suteguma still doesn't even have the correct number
>>291093352Sandro traced this name btw
>>291094164 I think Billy actually got killed off for thematic reasons. Lalo values talent to a point but while he is confident in his talents he doesn't take particular care in making sure they used properly. Think of the scene where he tells Billy about grasping the knife, and his very casual knife tosses at Billy, or the way he sends Billy into situations he isn't suited for which ends up with Billy doing personally distasteful movements for the plans. Lalo himself is not a people person, but he has a lot of people
>>291090974>>291091012>>291091048Now this does feel like some bullshit. Were they even allowed to leave the tower?
>>291093493Solid 8.5/10 a wonderful ride with some hiccups as Sako struggles to balance fighting and gambling.
>>291092217I would have never seen the parallel, like I literally still didn't get it after a second read
I think Protopos is where he finally gets the "timing" for fighting and gambling
>>291093493There were too many fighting subplots. The gamble itself is a bit too simple, so Sako had to throw in other elements like Ranko, Billy, the police gamble, and the car fight. It still has some great moments (mostly Billy's stuff), but definitely not my favorite game in the series.
>>291093610OP guessed 9 for Suteguma and 10 for Baku. Sadly he doesn't win any special prize and is instead tranq shot by Ranko.
>>291091989He was too perfect to win...
>>291092970Leo my Puritan king...
>>291092162You can make literally everything sound simple and easy by describing it like that. It's the execution that matters.
>>291093493I could not understand the gamble because I am too stupid. The fights are probably the best even comparing to all other arcs.
>>2910936528/10. RIP Billy...
>>291094890this will probably be the only OP vs anon game that I know how to play
>>291095959>he doesn't understand Rock Paper Scissor...
>>291095666While it is a deliberate weakness of Lalo which is used to contrast him with Baku who actually does care about his companions, I feel like it works against the manga. Robert K, Floyd Lee, Jonglyo, Fukurou all feel a bit wasted. It also doesn't help they all feel somewhat less threatening/potent than Billy though that's personal opinion. None of them have a deep connection with Lalo, nor are they dwelled upon after their relatively quick losses. Fukurou's participation in Air Poker is literally gambleless and just him doing what he can within the rules. It's a real they exist to lose feeling though that's ostensibly a problem with villains across all fiction.
>>291093652I would give it a 7/10. I think it really just struggles from pacing issues. Too much fighting and not enough gambling, even if they fights are cool they overshadow and at points actually make the gamble hard to follow. The villain is fun, but i wish qe got more exploration of his mentality. Anyways, its all good because next arc is one of my favorites
>>291095128you don't understand. in all aspects except my physical body, I *AM* a naked mole-rat
>>291094936 i played this "game" with a guy at a bar and scammed 20 dollars off him kek
>>291095918I found the execution poor as it just kept hyping up Suteguma despite him doing very little of substance mentally. If you're not caught up in the hype and actually think about his plan vs Baku's plan, it feels like Suteguma wasn't thinking at all. The Kengan posting gets it, characters fellating a jobber after their loss just impresses the fact they're a jobber.
>>291094164I think it makes sense to kill off billy here. The issue with him is hes kind of a simple guy, there isnt much too him beyond what we have been shown. If he survived this arc then he would have needed to be developed further, and I think the aurhor just want billy to be billy to the end.
>>291091048>>291091088>>291091494Man, for me, this arc is where Sako's artstyle peaked, at least concerning humans. Emphasis on the "style" part, because his technical skills only keep improving. He draws the women hot and he gives the men strong looking bodies, thicker necks and extremities, which really helps to sell their superhuman strength and moves, just compare Manabe and Yakou's muscularity and bone structure last volume with how they look in the forest of squizophrenia, hell, even Usogui looks manly here, with abs and shit, while I understand he's suppossed to look more like he does in the Yakou epilogue chapters, a frail and very pretty man, he and everyone else just gets too thin and effeminate while suffering from same body syndrome and super soft faces. I just can't suspend my disbelief enough to believe twinks are able to carve trees, break bones and smash concrete with their bare hands.
Does Suteguma have another appearance after this, or does he just join snake lady offscreen?
>>291096423He doesn't appear anymore, but he does join the Kuramagumi and is story relevant later

>>291095128Taka-san, did you know that mesoamerican civilizations believed all people have a spiritual link with some animal? It's a concept called Tonal, supposedly some people in there could even transform into their animal counterpart, those people were called Nagual, or Nahual depending on who you ask.By the way, did you know that snakes have two dicks? Word on the streets has it that's the bare minimum that Kurama Ranko woman needs to reach climax.

>>291096760> Kyara would have probably sussed out Suteguma, being a fellow Ch*nk, and for taking Usogui's eye he probably would have just killed Suteguma In fact, I think Kyara would have just killed both of them before Billy could intervene, I don't think Kyara even needs to knock out Billy, he seems the type to just go for the kill Only Marco could beat SuperBilly though

>>291097660Among the top tiers? I suppose Tatsuki literally ages like wine, but what about Yakou, Bai Long and Taka?
>>291098336 I guess those are exceptions but they're not really part of the same category of fighter as Minowa/Billy/Marco/Volja/Hal/Kyara/Jonglyo even if they are strong. Tatsuki and Hal both have some FREAK genetics though, Yakou I can buy being mostly just a very lethal old man. Bai Long and Taka it's hard to say how much is they're really just that strong like Yakou is or if we're bridging softly into a Wuxia Fantasy the same way Minowa and Billy did. For all we know, Kyara doesn't really have a gimmick going on unlike the rest
>>291093493I admit I had overrated it thanks to nostalgiahell at some point I was misremembering Baku getting injected yet still survivingstill very solid arc though, you can feel things are going to pick up after this right away

>>291092255Baku deducing Suteguma's first guess being a bluff due to him not being confident enough in it to throw away his only chance for more information seems like a huge asspull.

>>291092776If he wanted to stay alive so much why did he decide to join a criminal organization and betray another one while working as an extremely high stakes gambler?
>>291093493I outright disliked this arc for how much time it spent on alright in moderation Usogui fight scenes; which are surreal nonsense where among other things one guy watches another go through part of a gymnastics routine between every other punch, the central action set-piece makes no sense and paints Billy as incredibly stupid for not setting up any of the infinitely more effective booby traps he could have with Ideal's resources, you have no reason to root for any side in the Billy vs Ranko conflict, the main villain's actions make no sense in light of his supposed dedication to survival, and how Baku's lynchpin deduction is Sherlock Holmes levels of magically finding the correct solution. Though otherwise the actual game theory involved in the gamble is interesting.
>>291101248 This will be explained later >>291101197Baku explains it was a gamble, and he willingly took that gamble because (as Nowa explains) he's crazy (about gambling)
>>291101197It's where Suteguma's oscar worthy killing intent failed him. If he was just highly confident in 8 but another round wouldn't hurt, he wouldn't have outright tried to kill Baku. Getting baited by Baku's act around 13 sealed his fate
>>291095128>not having a spirit animal
>>291101317>paints Billy as incredibly stupid for not setting up any of the infinitely more effective booby traps he could have with Ideal's resourcesGive some examples?>you have no reason to root for any side in the Billy vs Ranko conflictI agree completely>how Baku's lynchpin deduction is Sherlock Holmes levels of magically finding the correct solutionThere was no single magic lynchpin, he simply plugged those holes of chances by constantly testing and confirming his deductions.
>>291103881>Baku plugged the wholes while Suteguma simply gave up on realizing his perfect boat had holesPottery?
>>291093493I get it now but I still don't like itThe fights are good, but the rest are just meh for meI guess I have bad taste
Attempts to downplay Suteguma at this point in the story will always fall flat to a laughable degree. I'm willing to have this discussion again at the very end of the manga, but so far the gap between him and every other Baku opponent is way too large. Although they won't admit it, people are only able to compare Suteguma to the End Game Threats instead of recognizing his rightful position as "Final Villain of Season 1".Just a cheeky reminder here: Kaji needed less help from Ranko to win against Ikuto than Baku needed from her against Suteguma, as his victory in the end depended completely on her whims (which, to be fair, he understood very well because he's a Sherlock Wizard).
>>291104685It's alright not to like something anon, it is what it is. Personally, it's a great arc but too busy to keep up and read at the same pace I would devour something like Labyrinth.>>291104787The key difference in Suteguma is that he's the only one that isn't blatantly stretching the rules as much as he can, he, in pretending to be something he isn't, holds on to more dignity than the monsters pretending to be human. It's kind of an interesting dichotomy in a way how Baku is much more merciful when it comes to gambles against people that aren't human scum.
>>291091522Mad.
>>291091522His rectum definitely felt a bit of cock pounding it for a second there. Like how certain flavors remind you of home…
>>291093610Thanks.
>>291103881Billy could have brought a gun to use in case things went south, armed gunmen, or motion activated explosives he could set up in places his opponents would be almost guaranteed to cross due to them only fighting with knives yet instead he only brought one guy with a nail gun who was very vocal about his greatest aspiration in life being to kill him as his backup.
Early Kaji would wipe Suteguma completely, right?
>>291102263Baku's deduction still has holes in it seeing as Baku's murder telepathy might have returned a false positive, Suteguma might have assumed the sniper was affiliated with Baku and so not wanted to fight him in an area visible to the sniper, or Suteguma might have been too preoccupied to fix his appearance before leaving, have wanted the satisfaction of killing Baku himself then decided against it once Baku was unconscious and his guess was proven false.
>>291104787>>291104895>baku invites suteguma into his inner thoughts and geeks out about their match while making friendly facesone of my favorite moments. baku shows more grace and respect to the guy that stabbed his eye than he ever did to the small fry that could never harm him
>>291093524There are 3 opponents in the entire story that Baku needs a dream sequence to beat, and Suteguma is one of them. >Kaji would tear him apartYou are BEEG LIAR.
>>291105866Early Kaji is canonically a Yukiide victim
>>291093493It's been a long time since i read usogui so i've forgotten most of it but re-reading this makes it still one of my favourite arcs. My criticisms still stand the same in that the billy vs rodem fight was still a little absurd for my tastes. The story was indeed long but I think if anons had binged it normally rather than waiting for daily volumes then it would have been slightly more cohesive, especially for how many subplots there were. I think reading in this format made it difficult for first time readers to keep track.
Gonen > Perfect Leader > Baku > Hal > Suteguma > Kaiji > Akiyama > Kaji
>>291105866EoS Kaji maybe, the dream from Baku is probably the biggest indication of his growth even more than the air poker moment. It shows that Baku sees Kaji as someone that can one day sit at the table for StL. God even though I liked the ending I kinda wish it ended with Baku remaining leader and Kaji emerging as the new challenger
Is Kaji fanboys = Gohan fanboys? What's with their obsession with wanting their OC takes the MC mantle.

>>291105956I like how Baku acts completely the opposite of how Suteguma declared him just a moment earlier in >>291090714>he is just a weak man possessed by the hatred of his eye being stabbedIt feels as if Baku heard that and then acted super chummy just to piss off Suteguma to maximum.

>>291107100lol maybe. I think it is just respect though, Baku knows what he got himself into and he can't hate someone for playing to win.
>>291107520Hope it works out, OP.
>>291096743Fun fact, a "black panther" is not a distinct animal species, but a description that can be applied to either jaguars or leopards (that are black, obviously). All big cats belong to the panthera family, so they're all panthers, a black panther is just a panther that is black. Also cougars and cheetahs don't belong to the panthera family so they're not actually big cats, they are in fact the largest small cats. The key distinction between the two groups is that big cats can roar but not purr, but small cats can purr but not roar.

So I'm hoping it's gonna hit different the same way the Bull arc did. Not entirely willing to put a bet on that though. >>291108760My friend referenced this as soon as I showed them the end of the chapter and apparently I'm getting my european license revoked for not knowing.
>>291101248He was always an Ideal spy sent to Kurama-gumi, also Ranko crossing him does work in his favor by letting Baku know his 8 bluff
>>291094715This always bugged me too, but imo it's just an error. In Japanese the word he uses is 目汚し, which is eye 目 and dirty 汚し, which could seem like he's saying something like that, but it's just a very humble/old-fashioned way to present something to someone in a higher position than you. Like "So sorry for wasting your valuable time but...I brought my daughter to meet you."I don't think calling your own daughter ugly reads as very humble in English, just kind of makes him sound like an asshole.
>>291095135>The reality is Suteguma is not a gambler. At all.Shouldering the risk of having his ploy unmasked by saving Baku from the sniper and still managing to bluff his way into making THE USOGUI confused and unsure is one of the top gambling feats in the story.
>>291107520Hope it gets all fixed soon.Maybe OPTheFumbler could substitute if it gets really bad?
>>291093406When I was looking around the Japanese internet a bunch of volumes ago to see if anyone had recorded Baku's win/loss rate in rock paper scissors, I found one post that pointed out Suteguma being the only person to lose to Baku at RPS up to this point was a good little cosmic hint at Suteguma's bad luck and his distrust of it.
>>291107100>>291107939Baku does look like he's in such a good mood while sharing his thoughts with Suteguma lol. It's like he hasn't had a proper all-or-nothing risky gamble in ages.
>>291109957>one of the top gambling feats in the story. No, it's one of the top acting feats.
>>291109957Suteguma's acting skills fool even Baku, but in turn his persimism and inability to read people betrays a lack of experience. He's too cautious and "perfect" as Baku says somewhat similar to Hal
>>291110116>acting is not a skill related to gambling>what is bluffingkengan friend..........
>>291110143We are all aware of Suteguma's flaw, but some of you really blow the reveal of Suteguma's pessimism out of proportion. It's like some people read that chapter and go "Suteguma.... weak? Is he... LE FRAUD? Kaji better?"I want you to take this into consideration: Suteguma, pessimist world view and all, forced Baku to risk life and limb to be able to peer into his thoughts. Suteguma, pessimist world view and all, was forced to give Baku more info because of factors that were completely outside of his control (the sniper and Baku of all people almost getting himself shot in the head while completely oblivious to the fact). Suteguma, pessimist world view and all, would have won if Ranko wasn't horny for Baku. Heck, I've seen Japanese fans argue that Ranko would have sided with Suteguma at the very end if Hyougo hadn't fucking died.Suteguma's skillset does not disappear because of his flaw. In fact, Baku is one of the very few people capable of properly exploiting that flaw because he's fucking Baku. >somewhat similar to HalThat is a very fair way to put it, I agree with you. And that comparison puts Suteguma in very good company.

But that's only the start of the game... because the anons you are targeting are already experienced enough to notice....
>>291114361"I" can't credit "you", because if all of "me" got credited there would be no "me" left to credit.bleh :Padded a little blurb for "you"

>>291111238That's true, I agree completely. But it didn't save Kaoru from being mocked/ridiculed when Baku beat him. Suteguma's postmatch discussion does have a very particular flavour to it, even when compared to a bigger threat like Lalo. I agree that part of it is Baku being mindful of Suteguma's harsh life, but there's a "game recognizes game" aspect to the whole scene as well, especially in the mudboat scenes. Sako even portrays Baku asking for feedback with a sincere expression like someone sharing a drawing with a friend lol.
>>291116785I don't really agree with Lalo being a bigger threat than Suteguma. Legitimately don't remember there ever being a point where Baku was on his back foot in terms of the game, even if he did lose a lot in the process. It doesn't really help the situation that he had fucking Leader on his side, either. Lalo was really outmatched.
>>291116869Lalo was a bigger threat to Baku's ambitions and a bigger "presence" as a dangerous enemy. Suteguma was a harder nut to crack inside the limited context of a game with well-defined rules. I think Suteguma would beat Lalo at Air Poker, but Lalo would kill Suteguma during early Protoporos since Suteguma doesn't have the same connections/alliances/resources as Baku.
>>291105866I think only in so far as he would be to stupid to fall for Suteguma's baits and just work off of his own assumptions, that alone isn't enough to win a gamble though
