Spotted Flower isn't bad because it destroys le hecking wholesome canon pairings (or whatever bitch ass loser shit people latch onto), but rather because Kio, at some point, became unable to write in anything but a completely facile comedic register (and honestly, we're seeing the beginnings of it with Sue here). It's the mode of writing Omake extended to an entire series, more or less. If anything, the actual storyline (in the moment it rears its head) is the good part because Kio sketches an accurate portrait of the absolutely pathetic, paranoid, perennially unfulfilled, unsatisfied and ultimately insecure otaku. It's the pessimistic reading/mirror image to the main series' broadly hopeful sensibilities. It truly is over for you.
