Prince of Pasta + Crepuscolo in particular I don't think I've read or watched once without crying bitch tears. Aida Yu would just benefit from a good editor, if Gunslinger Girl was a tighter story and had more consistent artwork I could easily imagine it being one of my all time favorite manga.

She doesn't want to be violent when she wears her glasses and Jean doesn't want to take any of the things Raballo gave her away from her without cause. But because her memories of her handler got erased she doesn't conciously remember her promise and presumably other than Raballo no one else knew. The problem isn't that she's unable to form a new attachment to another handler, as evidenced when she very dutifully went to confront the invaders while repeatedly citing her intent to "protect her garden" as ordered. After she got in a fight with Petra she was shortly thereafter tried for a mission, and I really don't doubt that she would have been paired up with another handler if she'd been able to shoot at the terrorists.
