Rin is so coolI like how this arc we're told directly that Rin was the one who invited Nadeshiko to go camping. She's making an active effort in growing their friendship. No more intrusions, no more camping based off of misunderstandings. Just good old camping with a friend
But unfortunately nadeshiko stepped outside and got the thousand folded japanese cold!!

So that previous full camping arcI remember I made all those posts about how underneath the surface, the arc was all about Rin expanding her horizions and making various connections with more people>sakura via being road travelers and nadeshiko telling her they have similar personalities>oogaki via the suggested campsite>aoi via physically meeting>those two new campers at the site who helped them with the barbecue grill and gave them alcohol>etc.
I think that all comes into play when she meets this new oneesan here. Rin isn't anti-social, as we've been over, but she's quite the loner, and I genuinely don't think that the episode one Rinchan would have stopped to have a full on conversation with this woman. I feel like she would have said hello and smiled and continued on walking and exploring by herself. But, perhaps subconsciously, after seeing how she's not so different from others in the past couple weeks, she decided to go ahead and have a conversation with this stranger. And she came out of it with another connection. This oneesan likes to hike in the winter for much the same reasons rin likes to go camping. She felt some affinity with her over it. She might not have experienced this had she not gone through the past few arcs of nadeshiko opening her gatesTHIS IS CALLED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Also worth noting that that oneesan had her own nadeshiko to hike with!
Here we areThis stitch took more effort than normal as I had to find individual frames where the texts weren't covering parts where they were previously, but it wasn't THAT difficult. Please do not expect me to do these types every single time they appear, I may not have the time or skill to do so. But I'm happy with how this one came out

Like how rin relented immediately here when nadeshiko explained that she wanted to still be apart of her tripIt's a good way to have her be involved even though she's stuck at homeAlso it's a good way, narratively speaking, to add some variety to the season so that it's not just the same type of camping in different spots over and over again. So far we've covered a great range of different camping arcs>solo camping>group camping>futari camping>fall colors camping>close to home camping>far from home camping>etc. etc.This feels like a nice shakeup that lets us change up some dynamics

Another thing I like about this season is how slowly it introduced characters. Lots of anime have a character bloat issue. It tends to happen alot less in cgdct/sol shows, but it can still happen. This anime has been the PERFECT example of how to grow the cast naturally and in a way that lets us learn enough about each character before meeting more>first the two mains>then sakura, as an important side characters being nadeshiko's sister and often her ride to campsites>then rin and nadeshiko's respective friends in ena and aoi and aki>next we meet shimama>and grandpashima>now we learn more about sakura alongside the other main yurus>then we meet a strange drunk lady who turns out to eventually be their club advisor>now we're finally meetin nadeshiko's family and finding out Aoi had an imuoto>just previously nadeshiko had mentioned a friend we might see soon named ayachanIt's just really well paced and I appreciate it. It doesn't just shove every character in your face at once, which I have seen some animes do

And I like how Rin is STILL apprehensive to go full on groupcamping with the OAC. She hasn't completely done a 180 and she still greatly values her alone time. Camping with pinkyuru is one thing. Camping with all of them is a whole other beast. However, it's nice that immediately after hanging up, she was already having second thoughts about rejecting it. She maybe felt she came off too rude, idk. After all, she Aki did help her out on this trip quite alot. Even though she can't exactly match her retardmaxxing energy, she's still definitely come to respect her as a camper over the past few arcs, and especially just now with the help she gave
And, of course, it was always going to be Enachan who pushed Rin over the edge and caused her to accept this new experience. Ever the puppeteer, Ena has caused significant growth in Rin. Perhaps Rin will feel more comfortable knowing that her long-time friend is going to be there to help balance the Oogaki energy? Either way, it's been a long time coming, but we're finally set up for Christmas Camping next arc. Feels good bros
