Alright lets try this! One chapter everyday until we die.
>The Social Welfare agency, a government sponsored corporation is in the business for saving orphaned or abandoned children who are terminally ill or injured beyond the point of saving.
>Using cybernetic implants, the Agency uses a process called 'conditioning' to turn orphaned children into emotionless killing machines with hardly any memories, no human comfort and no free will.
>Follow the life of Henrietta, a girl who barely survived a brutal attack that killed her family and who was saved and repaired by the Social Welfare Agency. Despite her conditioning and programming, Henrietta still has the heart of a young girl. She has not completely forgotten how to love, yet the very emotion is contrary to her training and programming. Can the Gunslinger Girl survive?

Chapter end!
Note I checked how many left and there are only 2 chapters left. I think tomorrow might be the grand finale and since I'll have most of the day free, I could ensure the thread lives and get proper time to comment with everyone before we consider the "Valiant Must Fall" dump.

Gives him the idea that his dead (still alive but actually dying anyway) crush's dream is still alive so he can move on, even though it's a complete lie and bullshit because leukemia patients can't donate organs.

Thanks for posting OP.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b44-5M4e9nI
I recognise this piece from somewhere, I think it might have been used in Princess Tutu?
>>
>>291656909
I don't even know if it's that uncommon for people to form bonds with their organ donors prior to the actual donation and fulfilling minor requests with regards to their loved ones. Elizabetha probably wouldn't have minded donating her organs and would have been delighted to know they ended up in another dancer.

>>291659562
>would love if everything was animated one day
I kind of got bored listenling to the audio drama, because a lot of it was just slow talking childeren (actually adult women pretending to be childeren) conversing about mundane things and slightly retreading the plot of the manga.

>>291659637
It's not an transparent lie at all if the osteosarcoma diagnosis is all that was shared with him. Also it gives Petra closure and allows her to show off her regained ability to dance to someone who genuinly cares.
>>
>>291661368
The lie lies in her organs being transplanted because cancer patients in general can't donate organs, and only become eligible in certain cases where they survive and don't relapse after a long while. I doubt Sandro (or Aida) really thought it through, but Alexei probably doesn't really know how it works and he'd rather believe someone does carry her hopes and dreams.
>>
>>291656513
It may be a lie, but at least it brought the guy some measure of closure.
>>
>>291661368
how long is the audio drama? I've only read the manga

It's yet another callback. Remember in Lady Rosso where Sandro's mentor called herself the Moor when she heard Petra's name? The Moor lost. The Ballerina (Sandro) chose Petrushka.
>>
>>291663694
>Remember in Lady Rosso where Sandro's mentor called herself the Moor when she heard Petra's name?
I haven't seen the performance, but according to Wikipedia, Petrushka loses and then haunts and curses the puppeteer. Disney has not yet adapted the story, so it's one of those older stories meant to stress that the world is a cruel unfair place, rather than that the good guys always win.

>>291662557
It was posted in the last thread >>291614243

>>291661987
Not sure what standard procedures are regarding organ transplants, but common sense tells me that if you're confident enough to believe amputating a proffesional dancer's leg is worth it to stop the spead of cancer, then you're going to believe there's someone on a waiting list somewhere that can benefit from a heart or maybe even a lung or (part of a) liver some skingrafts etc. a lot of organs don't even last all that long in the recipients body because of immune responses.

You can find the full performance by the Bolshoi Ballet (the same Ballet Liza was learning at) on youtube, and itself is a throwback to the tradition of puppet theater in Russia, which interestingly enough, was likely imported from Italy.

641 KB JPG
Big ass scope with complicated optics, did they actually exist?

Also Aida sure came far in his art when you compare this to the later parts in Gunslinger Girl.
>>
>>291669856
Yes, could be an old model of clip-on thermal or night vision scope, or a prism attachment used to dial greater elevation onto the scope for very long distance shots. Modern versions of the former include AN/PVS-30 and AN/PAS-13. A good example of the latter is the tacomHQ Charlie TARAC.
>>
>>291669856
The mechanism of that optic is definitely real, but the large objective lens limits its use in military situations. It collects a lot of light, but it would also reflect light in a way that would be obvious to counter-snipers. Probably saw it in a 90's gun tech catalogue for some niche long-range hunting scope.
>>
>>291669956
Yeah, that's what I thought. Though for sport hunting, it's useless in a forest, but maybe sniping big game on the savannah?
>>
>>291670053
Depends on the forest. It's definitely designed for a static position. But yes, it's likely based on an incredibly niche high-magnification sighting system that never took off, but was exactly the sort of weird gun fodder 90's firearm magazines in Japan would have loved.

THE END!
I want to thank all the anon who contributed their time to this Gunslinger Girl dump, particularly those who kept the thread alive while I was out being a wagie, and the interesting discussions we had during these months!
Will keep dumping the last pages but they're only separators and the cover so thread's open for discussion. I'll be having several hours free in case anyone wants to discuss the chapters, ideas or what you'd change in the story if anything.
I really like this work, this is my first time reading it complete from end to end as I had only watched season 1 anime many years ago and really enjoyed it, but never saw the whole story. I like this end, despite all the dark and fucked up stuff that happened, and the tragic fates of some heroines, there's still hope in the world. And I like how Yu Aida kept that message, this "faint ray of light" at the end.
>>
>>291682242
How would they stop him? They've run out of murder lolis.

What would you have thought if they didn't include this epilogue and just ended the story with Claes last words about her vision? I imagine when that one was released, it was a very somber ending.
Do you think Yu Aida made this epilogue like this as a response or already had it in the plans? Any anon read this while it was still being released?

>>291682275
Triela Jr. only had access to her mother's side of the story so i reckon there wasn't much details about the agency in the picture beyond "anti-terro secret agents".

Thanks for the dump, OP. This was a title I'd never gotten around to trying, even after lo, these many years. I did drift off a bit during the interminable Croce flashback, fearing that it would do this usual thing of going from episodic to a plot which drags the whole thing down, but it pulled through very nicely in the end.
>>
>>291682269
Not the biggest fan of this epilogue with Triela's daughter, I get that it's there so the ending's not a complete downer but it seems like a forced way to go about it

Thanks for this daily Signore OP it was great. Haven't posted in the threads at all since the earlier volumes but enjoyed the ride.
Ultimately it would have been nice to get more focus on the Gen 1 girls and their handlers rather than Sandro and Pet, but they were alright, and it was cool to se more of the support staff working behind the scenes in the agency.
>This epilogue chapter
Same as >>291682809 said. And it's a disappointment considering how well other parts of the story are written, my guess is some editor interference. It feels out of place, far removed form everything else the story was doing. And the Manga did not need this kind of conclusion, everything was already set up with the ideas of the SWA tech being used for medicine, and its members regaining their honor.
In fact this whole idea of continuing the bloodline in >>291679510 goes against the Manga's core ideas around non-familial bonds, and creating a better future via actions.
>>291680954
>Rico spends her last days on the ocean with Jean
After the trauma of shooting her handler I'm glad she gets a peaceful end. Overall it seems like all the girls went out in a way they'd be happy with. Good thing it was Claes left behind at the end because I'm not sure the others would handle it as well.
Thanks again to Signore OP and all the SWAnons who posted in the threads.

I also don't really like the final epilogue. It felt very out of place. Overall the story is really good though so I think of it as a doujin of it rather than a part of canon.
I like to imagine that one day the manga will get a full, faithful adaptation by Madhouse or someone.

I cry every time.

Give the side characters more room to breathe, show more of the cyborg dorm life. We did get invested into the main Fratello as we saw their stories unfold, but when Bea picked up the missile there was not as much emotional payoff as there could've been if we'd known her better. Same thing for when Marco and background Fratellos got close to drowning, Marco's arc was over and the rest you hardly know.

Also, retelling Triela's background story basically three (or 4?) times. While she's best girl, that could've been handled better.

Getting a least a panel of what Ashiq and Emma were up to afterwards would've been neat.

I played it shortly after its original global release right up until the last story event. The team lead of the company which developed GF, Yuzhong aka KING CHONG is a huge GSGfag and pushed for the collab to happen, and a lot of influences from GF made it into GSG. It likes to suggest the sort of tension and drama that happens in GSG, but because the great majority of the girls in GF (excluding some story characters who you don't get to actually control) are all civilian gynoids repurposed for security duties, they don't get a lot of the direct tension of having once been actual human beings in their stories-- drama happens where they get hurt, destroyed, go through various robot-related troubles a la Blade Runner, and (what is ultimately just artificially intelligent) emotional trauma, its lightly framed as the player character having a sort of weird, strong affection for his armed roombas and toasters that isn't actually all that important compared to the big politics of the world's most important people of the setting, who you are just sort of a pawn for.
So I guess the high-level politics and conspiracies get a lot more focus than they do in GSG, and while some of your Tactical Dolls do have some "real" shit going on with them, the day-to-day, lighthearted stories about antics with them tend to be the main experience-- the game is a gacha where you want to fill the pokedex with all the cute gun girls, after all, so it isn't all just a series of tragedy and suffering. Very few people or dolls actually die or get fucked over permanently, so while the scope is this grand thing about a conspiracy happening behind the scenes of the neo-soviet union, the stakes feel a bit less high and its not as depressing. The first game set in the universe, Bakery Girl, is pretty much of the same depressing tone as GSG is.
The girls are cute, setting is neat, so if you like like what you see, it might be worth trying. The gacha is very F2P friendly, at least.

In a prior daily dump, some other Anon posted this at the end. I hope he is not offended by my reposting it.

last minute gun wiz notes:
Cyborg's kill counts:
A confirmed kill is verified by being an enemy killed on panel, a probable happens off panel and likely as a direct result of a cyborg's actions, and an enemy is injured if they are attacked but not killed on panel and it is not probable they died or they were taken into custody.
Henrietta: 15 confirmed kills, 1 probable kill, 1 enemy injured
Rico: 15 confirmed kills, 4 probable kills, 5 enemies injured
Triela: 18 confirmed kills, 0 probable kills, 5 enemies injured
Claes: 2 confirmed kills, 0 probable kills, 2 enemies injured
Angelica: 1 confirmed kill, 1 probable kill, 1 enemy injured
Petra: 1 confirmed kill, 1 probable kill, 8 enemies injured

Top 5 reoccurring firearms (Each chapter a character held a weapon was counted as 1 instance. So If 2 people had a Glock, I counted 2 Glocks in that chapter)
Beretta AR-70/90 (all variants) - 80
FN SCAR-H - 57
Beretta Rx4 Storm - 53
FN P90 - 24
Beretta 92FS - 21

Top 5 reoccurring pistols:

SIG-Sauer P239 - 15
Beretta 80 Cheetah - 13

Top 5 reoccurring SMGs:
FN P90 - 24
H&K MP5 - 16
SITES Spectre M4 - 14
H&K MP7 - 10
Beretta M12 - 7

Triella's Winchester Model 1897 appears 18 times.
Rico's Dragunov SVD appears 4 times.
Claes' VP70 appears twice
Angelica's Steyr AUG also only appears twice
Beatrice's Micro Uzi appears 4 times.

Most common firearm brands:
Beretta - 201
FN - 91
Heckler & Koch - 47
SIG-Sauer - 42
Winchester - 18
Steyr - 9
Glock - 6
Benelli - 4
Franchi - 4

Weapons by fratellos:
Henrietta: FN P90, SIG-Sauer P239, FN FAL used once on an ambush on Italian soldiers smuggling weapons
Jose: FN Five-SeveN, FN P90 only used during the Turin NPP attack
(The P90 and Five-SeveN share the same ammunition 5.7 x28mm. The Five-SeveN was created to be a companion with the P90, sort of like a fratello)

Rico: CZ 75 pistol, Dragunov SVD, MG3 machine gun, FN SCAR-H during Turin
Jean: Browning Hi-Power pistol. FN SCAR-H during Turin

Triela: Winchester Model 1897 from Mario, SIG-Sauer P230 from Victor during his Europol days
Victor: SIG-Sauer P232 (updated version of the P230), H&K MP5 in Venice, H&K MP7 during Turin

Claes: H&K VP70 used to train from Captain Raballo, Taurus Millennium Pro when she was on the sailboat on the Swiss/Italy border with Petra, FN Minimi when defending the SWA campus.
Captain Raballo is never shown wielding a weapon.

Angelica: Steyr AUG A2, Steyr AUG HBAR (MG variant) used during the raid on Cristiano's house, Steyr M9-A1 pistol, Steyr TMP SMG
Marco: Steyr GB, FN SCAR-H during Turin
Angelica and Marco are the only fratello whose weapons originate from the same manufacturer, Steyr

Petra: SITES Spectre M4 SMG, Taurus PT92 (Brazilian copy of the Beretta 92FS)
Sandro: Beretta 92FS
Since Petra's name originates from a puppet, maybe she uses a copy of Sandro's pistol to reflect the fact she is not human? Or maybe because she's a foreigner? Or maybe I'm reading too deep into it.

Beatrice: Micro UZI
Bernardo: Jericho 941
Both use weapons of Israeli origin.

Yeah. It's clear she wanted his german cock.

Same with Petra

Several handlers have vaguely paternal feelings towards their cyborgs, but he is the one example who 100% saw Triela as his daughter. His request to Roberta is a bit less weird when you interpret it as him asking her for grandkids.

Thank you for the storytime, OP.

Thanks for posting OP, I too had only watched the first season before this. Epilogue was a bit odd but overall I really enjoyed the manga.
I'd love to see a slice of life spinoff manga set in the agency headquarters, even if it was just a 4koma. I feel like it'd be super easy to come up with chapters.
>Some of the handlers are in the gym struggling to bench-press, they look over and see Beatrice benching a motorcycle.
>Rico and Henrietta accidentally break one of Claes' flower vases, they try (and fail) to pin it on someone else.
>Angie making various types of pasta.
>The other Gen1 girls discover Triela's hidden wine stash...

Of the handlers, who had the best fate in the end? Sandro is off building a family or whatever in some farmstead in northern Europe, so he has my vote

Sandro basically didn't suffer at all besides his self-inflicted guilt from not intervening in Petrushka's pre-cyborg suicide attempt, got to be with her to the end and gave himself closure for both Petrushka and his mommy mentor.
Marco also got off relatively light but we don't really know whether he got his old job, his relationship or his good vision back.
Jean basically lost everything but he got over it, and doesn't seem to be troubled being a lifelong glowie.

>my daughter died fighting terrorists so I harvested her eggs and mailed them to a coworker
Most normal SWA retirement plan.

Still, it's probably the closest thing to a happy ending Hillshire could imagine. Triela was never going to get a normal life, so he settled for some part of her getting one.

I don't think Hilshire planned on them dying but after seeing Giacomo's handiwork for himself, decided it was best to have some insurance in case he or Triela did. After all, if they did survive, he could just ask Triela himself whether she would like someone to surrogate her a child.

To me Hillshire. Got Triela in the end

Thanks for the dump, OP. I would have had more Triela as the main character, she was the one with the most plot out of all the cyborgs. Also I kind of wanted to watch Elsa's pov instead of Petra

Thanks for dumping OP, was nice to re-read after the first storytime
