I think a longer episode was a mistake and it'd be much better if they were forced to shave down each cut, speed up transitions, and otherwise tighten the pacing. Jumping around three battlefields led to a lot of repetitive "establishing" frames that wouldn't really be necessary with cuts between characters and better use of colors. Harribel and Uryu give good examples where the green and blue instantly ground the audience in a new context. Some of the lines, especially the "you realize you're fighting for soul reapers" exchange, don't need fully padded scenes and could easily be queued up with a few frames of the character speaking and letting the audio continue while shifting to a separate part of a faster montage of battlefield images. It's like 24 seconds from the cut between Grimmjow being blasted to Orihime blocking to the side side characters finishing their dialogue. Even overlapping voice lines from different characters would provide a stronger effect than this slow cycle through everything and better communicate the theme of united efforts to protect.
