I think the plot would've been stronger if Talia found out about the Soul Killer, and she took it upon herself to try and obtain it to save her life, and King reluctantly tagged along because he wants to protect his daughter and he can't convince her to avoid seeking it out. Roman (who has been aged up to be 1 year younger than her) would also tag along because he's in love with her and doesn't want to lose her. D would find himself dragged in as well because he's grown to see Roman as his little brother after spending so many months with him fighting Arasaka. I dunno where the plot would go after that, but at least that way, we'd all get what we want, which was to see the four of them working together
