Prichan is an anime that has good friends in it, HimiPri is a good friends anime. Meaningful difference! But seriously, yeah, Nijinosaki's one sided omoi onna-ness is an obvious predecessor to HimiPri in terms of character writing, and Ring Marry's self-contained arc about their relationship dynamics framed around their duo formation is the exact blueprint used by HimiPri S2. While sure, Prichan didn't have the same ridiculously singular focus on relationship drama that HimiPri did, it clearly laid down some inspiration that would later be iterated upon by its successor. And c'mon, saying that it has been forgotten is nonsensical, it still has a ton of presence with fans and is remembered very fondly. Heck, I'd judge that the K*reans have it as their favorite, honestly.

That being said, the full ramifications of Ricochi's introduction to the role of being a creepy stalker lesbo extends way beyond /ai/ at this point...

HimiPri is almost entirely relationship drama and light psychological drama. It's not trying to do the exaggerated melodrama of RL, the Takarazuka Revue style drama of DMF, Moriwaki's fantastic humor punctuated with emotional gutpunches, etc etc. It's perfectly fine if you prefer those distinct forms of dramatic writing, plenty of people obviously share your sentiment and there's nothing wrong with that.

Personally, one of my absolute favorite things about Pretty is that it is willing to be so diametrically different in terms of composition between each entry. I certainly wouldn't be interested if it just repeated the same show ad nauseum.

I still think KomachiRei was on a different level than the omoi onna we know and love. Those can still be (somewhat) framed as very intense very good friends.
Then the whole plot of that HimiPri episode was that Himari literally thought Komachi had romantic feelings for her brother, only to find out in the end that those feelings were actually towards Rei.
On the scale of things, it's basically a single step away from outright saying they are lesbos.
