Absolute fucking faggotry if you use it in real life but invaluable in written stories because everyone has some vague idea what those terms imply.There's a few tumblr guides on how to write non-white characters and if you can ignore the woke some of them have they're not bad guides at all.

What helps a lot is that they don't just reference food but things like types of wood or seasons or even vague descriptors like "the umber dusk of an unconquered land", an actual line I read on the box of a really dark and "rustic" craft beer. It really paints a picture of it being darker than usual because there's no cities lighting up the sky, a really great descriptor and one I've used on occasion in my own writing. Alcohol reviews in general tend to be written quite creatively because it's a drink and there's not much write about past the taste at so reviewers oftentimes have to bullshit their way to a complete article with pretty words. However when it comes to pretentious flowery descriptions wine takes the fucking cake.For dark skinned characters I'd say focus on reading red wines, they're usually a good place to start.
