/aco/ wouldn't even exist without him, so why not give him a thread
>>8477314his art is awesome. what do you think is his definitive art book?
>>8476933Shit yeah, thank you anon. Crumb really is a fucking treasure and an inspiringly unashamed pervert. One of us!
>>8476933He certainly had a way of drawing his gals that I likedDidn't much care for his humor though
>>8477587NTA but I’d say his “Bible of Filth”Got to respect an artist who knows what he likes
>>8477587Probably the Sketchbooks, Volume 3 through 6 have probably the most /aco/-approved content, he stopped trying to be "normal" after he dropped acid and the cute cartoon animals slowly were replaced by huge asses and legs.
>>8477752Is there a place online to view his sketchbooks?
>>8477754They used to be on e-hentai but it looks like they were taken down, they might be on exhentai/sadpanda though. Looks like some of them are on Internet Archive but you need to be logged in to "borrow" them.https://archive.org/details/rcrumbsketchbook0000crum
>>8477766Namio Harukawa was definitely the R. Crumb of Japan.
>>8477716>>8477752thanks, i'll look for them

>>8480095>>8480097>>8480099This is probably the least offensive thing he's drawnGod it's gonna be a total shit show when Crumb kicks the bucket and everyone from every corner is gonna pretend like they know him just so they can cancel him
>>8480130Already happening, the usual Twitter crowd thinks Robert Crumb literally raped a woman.https://x.com/RavenLynClemens/status/1829650450981011703?t=X4QhUGpXhtgWs37K5QMo1w&s=19
>>8480173Yeah but it's gonna explode when his name gets trendingAlso wasn't there a panel in a comic where he talks about the women he's been with and had he can't talk about some because he'll get in trouble? Possibly hinting they were underage?I think ends with talking about how he eventually got with his wife.

These drawings are all absolutely magnificent. Is there a site or a Mega archive of all his stuff?
>>8495403There's a few collections of R. Crumb stuff on e-hentai but it's sporadic and not his entire oeuvre.
>>8497085>hop ontruly ahead of his time. Someone should design some sort of harness setup with like stirrups. Maybe some reins.
>>8498593Is this fake? How could a Crumb girl have an ass small enough to fall inside a toilet?
>>8476933>R. Crumbhideous shit, never understood why anyone liked it.
>>8476946>>8476942Honestly one of the greatest artists of the 20th/21st century. He has such a crazy range that he can do that old 1900s/1930s cute carton stye. You know right away when it's a R. Crumb illustration in that style. Then he does stuff like this, basically photographic realism done from studies which have that pointilism style for his shading but its cross hatching.I highly recommend his Book of Genesis and if you ever see on of his comics in the wild then grab it (usually 10-15 dollars in "poor condition"). They're usually just different variety comics with different stories, characters, and art styles by him. And they'll all have different titles like XYZ, Zap, Mr Natural, HUP, Snatch, Big Ass (some of them really have ridiculous stupid titles but the covers are fantastic and look like old timey comics).
>>8480173That Clemens guy is a huge softie and crybaby. Not worth the time.
>>8500811I'd beat your ass if you said that in front of me.
>>8477597I respect his tasyes buy lament everything he draws feels half human half neanderthal
The guy can really drawMeanwhile whenever I try to add some hatching to a female face it looks like she as a beard
>>8505202It's about line weight, hatching/shading should be done with a much finer line than the main outline for figures.
>>8477296Oh god, I think that might be Maxon, if you've seen the documentary

no can die me no let
I've always hated Crumb. His shit is so low life/disgusting, it makes me nauseous just to look at it. Reading the text makes me want to puke.
>>8516452It’s like saying the Beatles are overrated. Even if you don’t personally like them it still layed the foundation for everything you do like.
>>8516411>inherited traitHoly shit Crumb, you absolute madman
>>8517571The man drew jailbait as well
I have a random assortment of Crumb comics coming in the mail this coming week. If anything of /aco/ interest is in them, I'll post some scans.
Why was this guy so obsessed with the ugly bastard trope. Why not just draw hot women and leave it at that?
>>8519972Higher resolution
>>8522726It's about Crumb self-inserting (and even drawing himself) in these sexual fantasy situations, he sees himself (and by extension men in-general) as these wormy, disgusting little creatures lusting over these brick house, monolithic women.
>>8522726He sees himself as one of those ugly bastards, he feeled rejected by woman, and the only thing that change that was his art Obviosly the guy got more than his share with the ladys, but that was more in his later years
>>8477141just a dark.. twisted kind of robert crumb picture, a little view into his fucked up baby boomer world
>>8497085>leaf-womanwhat did he mean by this?

he had a short called joe blow or something about some white collar family taking pills and acting ridiculous. i cant remember where i saw it. def in a some adult back issue. that and the viet cong cover to young lust are fixed in my memories of my local comic store.
>>8521987Yes please. There should be a Crumb thread in the catalog at least once a week bare minimum. Just like /d/ should have weekly Shindol threads.

Good thread. I'm going to miss it.
Robert Crumb is an outstanding artist and a remarkable character. He emerged from the vibrant San Francisco counterculture of the 1960s, where he created iconic characters like Mr. Natural and the 'Keep on Truckin’' comic strip. His work often pushed the boundaries of sexual and social norms, challenging mainstream sensibilities with raw and provocative imagery. Crumb's underground comix, such as Zap Comix, became emblematic of the era’s rebellious spirit, often reflecting his satirical take on American life, consumerism, and politics. His unique, hand-drawn style and unfiltered voice quickly set him apart as a key figure in the underground comic scene.Due to his sometimes controversial depictions of sex, race, and power dynamics, Crumb faced censorship and criticism, prompting him to relocate to France in the 1990s, where he continues to live. He has also illustrated the Book of Genesis, showing his versatility as an artist and ability to take on more classical themes in his distinct style. Crumb’s influence on both underground and mainstream art, from comics to graphic novels, remains profound, and he is often regarded as one of the most important figures in modern comic art.In 1972, soon after arriving in San Francisco, Aline Kominski was introduced to Robert Crumb by mutual friends, who had noted an uncanny resemblance between her and the coincidentally-named Crumb character Honeybunch Kaminski(who had been created in 1970).Their relationship soon became serious, and they began living together. She married Crumb in 1978.Their daughter Sophie was born in 1981.Aline Kominsky died from cancer at her home in France on November 29, 2022, at the age of 74.
