Emmy was sort of the gateway for me. She's not really my type but she's the one that made me realize I was into this.

The comic does go into detail about some of her robotic attributes, presented in QnA or slice-of-life form. Her arm bugging out and having to contend with being an outmode is the central conflict of the plot; I'm not really sure how you missed that.

Instead of treating her as "not a robot", you should see her more as a refined consumer product. A modular PC and an Apple tablet will have different consumers, but each is still a real computer.
