>>8969157>>8969361Found this in my own search:>SWAR leader goes rogue over not trusting aliens, mostly for valid concerns. Steals a bunch of secret tech, leads a few hundred loyalists to take a jump carrier. The fly it to an isolated colony planet and attempt to take control. They end up failing due to the efforts of local resistance, the original crew of the jump carrier, and a team of special agents sent to the planet. The colony ends up better than ever and starts its own army producing the stolen experimental tech they took from SWAR. For his involvement in this, the main admiral of the story, Vos, gets shitcanned, and the admirals have their wartime powers revoked.I've read about a quarter/third and can confirm not much happens during the rebellion part that probably takes up most of the story. The loose MC is the male borealan medic from Xipa's squad in Autumn War, who acts more standoffish in this then AW despite his major issues being resolved. I have no idea who bangs who in this.

Teng here, thanks to whoever post the Howlers story, that's incredibly good stuff, first thing in a while I couldn't put down and legitimately ruined my sleep schedule for work over to catch up to where it is! If the author lurks here PLEASE KEEP GOING. The premise of first contact, but one party has lost their mind is a great premise. Made some real quick Fyrix fanart this morning, still not really sure how to do the thorasic flangesHere's my thoughts: the framing device at the start is really good, its fun reading waiting for those logs to get transmitted, and the little name details in the command lines is a fun foreshadowing of the alien scientist character.Love how well the aliens are written as being alien, incorporating the communication in non verbal ways, the different ways their cultural norms affect how they act. Having the ayy scientist be a (near) analog of a human with autism is a good angle to help explore that without it coming across as awkwardly exposition dumping (In general GREAT show don't telling with all the alien biology and culture)>" It seemed to be one of those lamentable languages that overloaded one word to be able to mean wildly different thing"lmao, this was a good bitThe stuff happening in chapter 17 to Nestiri reminds me a lot of the trial of Thel 'Vadam at the start of Halo 2, was that an actual inspiration for it or just me making that connection?>Nithry, claimed by his own delusions of grandeurShaka, when the walls fell A lot of great details on the deciphering the language bits with Zyrrs and her roommate, all the barriers like "how do you ever parse an unknown data format" is great. The numbers mentioned lining up with ASCII codes was also a fantastic bit.
>>8975626Thoughts pt 2:Some criticisms after all the gushing positives:I know humans are mentioned as being around twice as tall as the Fyrix I think? Later on in most scenes where the human MC is described makes him feel way bigger, like he's king kong compared to them.It also seems odd that given that there are multiple sapient species in contact with eachother, that upon finding a human they would so quickly discard the possibility that it could also be sapient based on its appearance and 'savage' behavior. Feels overly obtuse.I do get we kind of need this for the story to happen and one can argue that people overlook 'obvious' things all the time because they have their own biased assumptions, but still feels odd to me.
>>8975627>the human MC is described makes him feel way biggerDepending on how slender the aliens and buff the human, he could easily be dozens or times their mass. Not to mention they're from a noticeably lower gravity planet.>would so quickly discard the possibility that it could also be sapient based on its appearance and 'savage' behaviorIts not explicitly stated iirc, but I think the various species have had long histories of bioweapon problems. For something very different than any species we've learned about so far, to vastly unintelligible behavior, it isn't entirely unreasonable.

>>8975926You'd have to bring them up to speed slowly, otherwise advancing too quickly could cause irreparable damage to their culture. You would have to make sure they avoid the pitfalls that plagued us on our journey towards the stars. Advanced weapons should be the last thing you give them. I love the idea of a sci-fi story where a lone Human becomes the ruler of a primitive alien species and helps them reach the space age.
>>8975626Great review that I agree with a lot.I was too busy being scared and sad together with Nestiti to make any Halo 2 connections while reading, but you are spot on with it feeling very similar.I haven't bothered to go back and properly re-read how the Fyrix are actually described, so they've ended up looking quite rotund, non-segmented and pill bug-like in my mind's eye. But writer-boy slapping his abdomen on the floor did make me change those perceptions.A more slender and segmented look, like the one you've drawn, is certainly more attractive! The same lack of re-reading goes for their flanges. My vague mind's image of them is as kinda simple slit valves with perhaps some frilly, fleshy bits that splay out when they open.Your articulated sealing flanges are much better for crazy hugs! But getting to hug a Fyrix feels like more intimacy than they'd ever allow, so a double-hug where they also leave their most precious cargo completely open to you is just an unthinkable move. Maybe Zyrrs could do it, because she doesn't care.

I'm just a small shy little writer guy working in my small safe little corner and I'm so glad you like it. I hang out in /bzzt/, but an anon was kind enough to point me here. I'm constantly worrying about stuff like, are the Fyrix alien enough, is their culture coming through clear enough, am I doing this premise justice or am I the wrong person to be given this inspiration, and so it's heartening to hear I've been doing something right! As for your criticisms >>8975627 If you're average height, stand and hold your arms flat against your body. Where your fingertips end is about as tall as a Fyrix, (antennae not included). As the other anon pointed out, Eigen is several times their mass and their structures are weaker due to not needing to worry about gravity as much to go high up.I've tried to keep it *somewhat* grounded with things like the genetic modifications that the council is so concerned about being what's responsible for keeping him in good shape despite years of complete isolation. (Also he's still full of metal) Obviously you need to make some concessions for badassery to take place, which is handwaved as military experience and just ignorance to the actual danger. The second point is one I've agonized over, and I've tried my hardest to make him come off as not only savage, but so strange that the logical leap to "insanity" wouldn't happen when other explanations would seemingly fit better for a beast they found in a broken ship it certainly couldn't have created. It's difficult to include that with his babbling, which implies language, but I've done my best. Also he's terrifying and huge and apparently ate his coworkers, so they're definitely biased. I'm planning on doing a final draft after I finish. I'm hoping to shore stuff like that up, so thanks for the feedback!(I've never played Halo 2, actually! Great minds, I suppose)
>>8975626>>8977013(Cont'd)Your depiction of the Fyrix isn't actually that far off what I've had in my mind! Unfortunately I'm not powerful enough to conjure a perfect likeness from thoughts alone, but here's some of the things I've got in my head. The Fyrix are predominantly reddish from evolution to help them blend in with the red foliage of their planet since they're originally a prey species. Their antennae are fairly large and have fronds (as you've done) to facilitate their extremely keen sense of smell, especially towards their own kind's pheromones, (very similar to moths). Being nectar drinkers, they do not posses large mandibles or pincers and have a simple segmented mouth that opens to produce their tongue as well as some palps that usually lie flush and help guide things in (also to wipe their mouth when they purge the poisonous byproducts of their favorite nectar). Their hands have four fingers, with their index-equivalent being a little longer and with a slight hook on it suited to digging into flowers for nectar as well as the ground and their own flanges on occasion. The thoracic flanges are a little complicated, but they're essentially a climate-controlled crevice that not only houses the various organs responsible for their pheromones, but also serves as a repository for the secretions of other Fyrix which functions as their basis of all value. I imagine it similar to a suit of armor's kind of overlapping plates which can be flared outwards if necessary. Something like two sets of flesh pockets on either side.I try to think of them in general terms of their bearing, which is extremely upright and with the air of someone who doesn't think they're superior, but knows it, at least for the distinguished ones. They do having clothing, but it's mostly regalia or decoration, having no utilitarian need for it. Lots of sashes, lots of clasps and dangling things, but never ostentatious!Sorry if I'm blathering, I'm just so flattered...

>>8977456"Oh no no no, this is so embarrassing..."
>>8977013You deserve the praise! You've got a lot of unique elements in a genre where a lot of the stories have the same ol' 'military guy meets ayy' premise. I think you've definitely made them feel very alien while giving enough consistent context clues that the reader can piece it together. It wasn't too hard to figure out their caste-like system and the importance of things like pheromonal communication for them without being directly told it.I definitely see the points about size. It could just be a me thing desu with the sizes not quite clickingI think all those points about 'Why' they think what they think about him do make sense in the story! Maybe early on in first contact have someone more explicitly bring up the idea to see if its intelligent and have it get shot down for the reasons you mentioned. Just to make sure that isn't a lingering question down the line for the reader!(one quick typo in chapter 20, feet -> feed)
>>8977598(Cont)>>8977016oh shit glad I guessed some stuff right! These details are very useful, Here's some sketches of kinda how the mouth/flanges could be structurally? >>8977779
>>8977781
>>8977622That's awesome! The tongue length is the leftmost one there, and their antennae are frondy and long enough to reach their shoulders if they pull them down. I imagine the mouthparts as a sort of central plate where the upper lip would be, two smaller plates that overlap with that to the left and the right, then the palps on either side, and then a lower plate to finish off the shape. As for the flanges, it's a little difficult to describe, but they're definitely layered vertically. Part of it goes inside their thoracic cavity, and so they can lie flat or flare out. I imagine there's three on each side of tapering size, somewhat following an imaginary rib structure. I guess imagine if you had gaps in your ribs where you could get just a little inside. They kind of overlap a bit when they're down. I'm sorry I made them so complicated! For the rest of it, if you just think in your head, "Smug bug" I'm sure everything will come together! I feel like I should be paying for this. Thank you so much... Don't take what I say too seriously, I'm no artist and if you think something looks good then go for it. I would've replied sooner, but I wanted to get this next chapter out as well.>https://archiveofourown.org/works/61103611/chapters/183610511Thanks for reading!
>>8977811So shorter tongue and longer antennae, are the antennae fronded on both sides (symmetrical) or one?For the tongue what was going for there was actually a mode of extension, the pink lined tongue being supported underneath by a palp like structure that pushes it forward out of the mouth (See how it extends from left to right). Would that but shorter be ideal?I am a little confused on the flanges, I was kinda going for a structure over the thorax like say a semi overlapping stack of sheets of paper (well, 2-3 thick sheets, not like a book) with the aforementioned organs hidden between the sheets? That would allow the 'flexing' and opening of them.Is this more like, a 'rib' underneath that can flex upwards, lifting cuticle to create an opening at the end like pictured?Looking forward to reading that chapter!
>>8977872Forgive the terrible art, it's the best I can do, but this is kind of what I imagine it like. Things *kind of* where the ribs would be that can flare open and also lead into the body a little bit. There's all sorts of neat plates and structural stuff that makes it look all cool like a robot opening up a hidden cache of missiles (yeah) but I'm too terrible to even attempt that. Also, pardon him, he's attempting to partake in the human passtime known as 'body language.' But yeah, fronds on both sides. Maybe the length of the fronds would be a little longer in the front just for some asymmetrical flair. And their tongue is extendy like that, exactly!
>>8977896nta but they're kinda shaped like gills, but armor plates instead of being breathing organs?

>>8980678HK has it's own threads, no need to stretch the definition of alien to accommodate it here.Speaking as someone who has gotten annoyed over /hmofa/ getting xeno content stories for months before someone thinks to post it here.
>>8975626>>8977811I also found myself doodling some fyrix sketches, while slacking on the couch, that I then threw into the computer! The head and eyes are kinda big and cartoony because I like cute shit. And the abdomen also ended up big and plump, because of hornyness. And the pose conveniently hid the hands? Oh my, how did that happen?I couldn't really get my head around how to do the mouthparts, so it all ended up vaguely mantis-like; which I guess is fairly in line with the general vibe you went with, Tengridus. And the coconut crab style pattern is very fun and pretty, but takes a little bit of doing! I should have used more contrast in the pattern so it would pop more, but what's done is done.I lost some of the "Smug" in this bug, since they are worried about the howler or maybe just the bleeds. But I replaced it with cuteness and breedability instead!
>>8981446A very nice mix of alien and sensual.
>>8981446Gosh, I really don't know what to say...I mean it. I must've been staring at this text box for over forty minutes. I was fine writing for my three or so readers from /bzzt/ and so I never really expected anything more, but seeing this sort of thing, I'm at a loss for words. Sorry, I'm not trying to be mawkish, but the feeling of writing something that inspired people in a completely different general completely unbeknownst to me to draw fanart is completely unfamiliar to me, so I'm a little overwhelmed at the moment. I feel like no matter how successful I become at the rat race, it'll never feel quite so satisfied as this... I'm probably rambling.I absolutely love everything you've done with this piece. It's so exciting seeing someone try to weave my little fantasy world into something real under their own volition, just seeing how different parts are interpreted. You've done such a good job! You clearly understand the appeal of bugs. I love his twiggy little limbs. The little bits of clothing are great too. He's looking quite huggable indeed. It's just a shame the one to hug him smells like blood, body odor, and sewage.RAAH, I've got work I've got to finish, but you're making me want to do nothing but write more...! Thank YOU for writing all the really good stories you've written

>>8981987Ah yes, I'm in that camp as well. I don't think I've ever met an artist worth his salt that didn't hate his own work in some way. It's good, because if you didn't have anything you hated, there wouldn't be anything left you wanted to improve. There isn't a chapter of this I've written that I didn't feel like I was butchering on some level. The Fyrix in general were based on the thought of what if there were a language so dynamic and rigorous that you could perfectly express things to others as radiantly as they are in your own mind. Your struggle with standards is your own, but your "amateur level fanart" made me very happy, so you should be proud of that.I've also just finished Chapter 22 of The Howler thanks to your encouragement, and I guess I'm posting it here now, so here it is.>https://archiveofourown.org/works/61103611/chapters/184217461
Drawfag here from the last AvP piece, I made another one!
>>8982702How Chapter 23 better be looking. But in all seriousness I've really liked the series. I like sci fi that has actual aliens, instead of blue humans or aliens that act and think just like humans. At first I thought the whole genetic defect with Doctor Zyrrs was going to end up removing a xeno aspect from the story, but I'm glad I was wrong. I'm more amateur for sure, but I felt like the perspectives were done pretty well. The emotional tones and narratives were pretty distinct.

Hey /xeno/I want to make a fairly elaborate AI chatbot (for Claude mostly) about a coalition of alien races conquering Earth and basically turning it into a giant brothel/breeding groundBut I'm horribly uncreative and having trouble coming up with races. >>8983252>unga bunga machine bad muv sovlOpinion rejected.
>>8983605Bro... That would suck hella nuts, not going to lie. I never thought I'd see someone in a xeno thread wanting monkeys. If it's uncanney valley, roswell grays or martians should already fit that role pretty well without filling a xeno thread with almost the opposite of aliens.

I don't know if this is from a game or if she's a robot, but I love this image
>>8983576>>8983661Oh, how good it already looks. I interpret it as an experienced Yautja laying on an altar as two ones below prepare her (massaging with oils and painting holy markings onto her belly) to carry the holy creature gestating inside her knowing they themselves will receive the same rites soon. Can't wait when it's finished.
>>8983913I like that interpretation! I don't often think about any kind of unifying "lore" or explanation behind my pieces, I just draw what I find appealing. So I appreciate your speculation! I'm happily surprised that you got that the really gravid yautja is an Elder, because she is! The other two who are much less far along with their little chitinous offspring are lower ranking huntresses. It felt appropriate that the oldest and strongest huntress in the scene, would not only have the biggest boobs, but also the biggest baby! I also enjoyed the idea that the two huntresses doing the oiling and caressing of the belly, also have their own pregnant swells pressed against the other. Just a fun idea!
>>8983880Destiny 2unfortunate that you had to be told this I'm sorry
>>8983593Fish and aquatic species in general. I remember reading the Algebraist by Iain Banks. They had an interesting fish alien that sort of reminded me of Aboleths. The Dwellers are interesting too. A kind of floating, crab like, gas giant species.
>>8984034Forgot my picture.
>>8983981Thanks. It might be a sketch but volumes convey a surprising amount of information. If you're open to suggestions, I might still add that I also envisioned the Elder being secured by resin (a mental image from your famous space jockey piece) in place as she is at the end of the gestation period. But you draw you like. That's what makes them so enjoyable.

>>8984343NTA but unfortunately is seems Eliksni lack the ability to have fat tits but at least they have decent hips? Official art and wiki gives no info on dimorphism outside of armor based on rank.
A little more with this!>>8984074I had them back in their own quarters, probably on a ship or another planet, because I liked the idea more that they're resting in the center of their own power, extremely safe and secure and with absolutely nothing to do but gestate and nurture their little bundles of terror and reflect on their defeat in combat. In fact, the sort of general idea behind this piece is that the Elder is actually embarrassed about her spawn, but grateful that her sore belly is being tended to, oiled and massaged. And only the two junior huntresses can be trusted to do so, since they're also quietly nurturing xenomorphs in their swelling bellies.>>8984396Thanks so much! There's of course more planned! Plenty of huntresses will be walking around with acid-blooded buns in the oven in the future!

Hello /xeno/. If you think watching xeno's playing sports is a good thing then coming up in October is the 4chan Babby Cup. It's where boards make teams and then they fight in divegrass/soccer to qualify for the elites. If you guys are interested in seeing the Xenomorph stay on this team and play her best, you can vote right here. https://forms.gle/eQGTf82dGzjVrcgQ9All support is welcome and we will try our best compared to Spring with only one win.

Teng here, I know thread almost dead, but here's about what I got for a go at a Fyrix with the feedback from SSS. Probably still needs some minor work but don't have time at the moment, interested to hear feedback/suggestions!
Are you a human male on female humanoid xeno enjoyer? Are you willing to try out new boards on new imageboards?Well then I can reccomend /humanoid/ on 8ch. Or well shill it. It's a bit dead but everyone is gotta start someway. But if you'll do anything against the rules I won't play lightly.(Obviously not posting the link because 4chan would block it)
>>8988616All these fyrix drawings have been incredible.
>>8988616Oooh, very nice!Love both the indignant and sexy poses! And I really dig the hand connections and the very insect style feet! The carapace flares are a cool detail, and I really dig the "pelvic boot" style crotch protrusion that leads down to the abdomen. And a long bee tongue for nectar-drinker-depth kisses is always a big plus! And that's a very lewd peek at the abdomen tip!
>>8988616That's so awesome, Teng! It's kinda funny that >>8988635 already said a lot of what I wanted to say before I could, but I love a lot of your ideas here. The sort of orchid-mantis like head kinda fits the coloration. I like the patterns too, and the tarsi are really neat with those little hairs and claws. The sultry pose makes me laugh a little bit. Nithry (presumably) wouldn't know what that pose is supposed to convey, but I could totally imagine him being tricked into it. (Too lewd for an SFW story, but you have my permission to use your imagination). The way the abdomen transitions from the crotch is well done too. It feels like it fits a bipedal alien insect, kind of giving a hint of that familiar structure but having enough different for it to not look weird when there's... you know, nothing there. I don't want to nitpick anything because I just love the different interpretations on display here, but if you *really* want it I generally imagine the flanges as fully covered by chitin plates unless they're on intentional display, but that's nothing compared to how much I love this.. Both you and the other anonymous artist have really influenced how I see them in my head!I'm really flattered, the support I've gotten from here is so overwhelming. I also suffer the curse of too little free time, but I'll try and get the next chapters out as soon as I'm able. Thanks so much.

>>8988627>>8988635>>8988677Thank you all so much! Always exciting when people call out specific design decisions, glad the pelvic boot is well received! Definitely agonized over the hand and foot designs for a while until I settled on those so glad people noticed. The second pose definitely started off as just a way to show off exposed flanges and then it just became the sultry pose. Might go rework them a little based on your feedback!I definitely based the background off where Nithry is, so it's basically him! Going off your point about what about him probably not understanding what that pose would be; what would a "sultry" pose for a fyrix be? How do they show affection to each other?I assume this story will be all SFW(some might say any NSFW wouldn't tonally work, but I think it could be done) think you'll do any NSFW with them? With the size difference it'd have to be all hand play i'd think
