Hey all, AurumVerd here. Apologies for the delay in uploads - I was overseas. Please see below for the latest chapter in Hot and Cold. Also, the Royal Road release is a chapter ahead of the Ao3 release due to auto scheduling, so that will line up next week. >>9057388Something like the Dead Space engineering suit, grungy but functional, at least for everyday use.But if shit really hits the fan, something like the power armor from They are Smol. >>9057747It's a sci-fi setting. No fucking way I'm going anywhere populated without armor capable of resisting laser guns.
>>9057747When a Jedi, Space Marine or some weird alien killing machine can just roll up to the cantina you're trying to have pint and a meal in, you'll understand why everyone in science fiction stories are kitted up like it's Baghdad. Comfort and fashion takes a back seat to protection.
>>9058028Speaking of alien killing machines, Brush Burial Gutter World is out now if anyone wants to play some janky stealth games featuring /xeno/ approved girls. And Mohrta as well if you want something more Doom-like.

>>9058008>>9058028You know what, I can't blame you guys for wanting to walk around with a kevlar vest, lol. Not when space settings are like burgerland 2.0, half the time. But why not make your fashion as good as armor? Best of both worlds.
>>9058189Dressing like space John Wick costs many credits.
>>9058286Damn. Same as it ever was.
Someone in a previous thread was talking about predator blood and flesh color. The pink/red color of the human body doesn't come from blood, but myoglobin. Very similar to hemogoblin, it stores oxygen in your body. Its entirely possible to have a different type of oxygen carrier, while having myoglobin.
Thoughts on these? They wouldn't look out of place in 30k.
>>9058501imperium tanks are more angular with sharp edges, more boxy
>>9058502I meant as an alien faction, not as imperial Guard.
>>9058501>>9058506they look like the Imperial Guard fucked the Tau and got them pregnant with blue humans. It's interesting to see, but they still feel like a 'weird human' design rather than proper xenos.
>>9058469Isn't that why Vulcans bleed green? They have a copper based oxygen binder in their blood
>>9058563That's the lore according to a Google search, but the only copper based blood to my knowledge is hemocyanin, which is blue. There are animals with a green blood on Earth, but its still iron based.>>9058557I thought it looked very soviet. How would you make it more alien? The aliens in this case have a very humanoid shape, so it'd have to be at least similar to anything we could make/use.
>>9058571I agree, the soviet angle is super prelevant in the dropship design, but they're aliens, why should their aesthetics equate to contemporary human aesthetics. The drive screws are neat, but its more human over alien on this angle
>>9058501>>9058506Pretty neat, like >>9058557 said, a blend of T'au and IG aapperance.Idea. Random portals can be found out in space or on planets leading to various locations across the universe and time itself on rare occasions Various factions expand outwards through them and frequently get into battles against other species in their efforts to expandAll models will be created from cheap STl files available from the community hub
>>9058501they're visually very cool, but my absolute layman-tier understanding of mechanical engineering that comes purely from having played besiege tells me that they would get stuck on everything due to having no suspension, and the lack of ground clearance would get them stuck in any terrain that wasn't completely flat or solid enough
>>9058501>>9058506looks alien for the sake of being alien but nowhere near as cool as stuff like CIS vehicles to make up for itmight as well stick a drill on the front of one of the tanks
>>9058681Those are screw drives, literally screws driving the vehicle forwards. If anything they're be horrible in anything harder than soft dirt. They're great for water/swamp/snow/mud but because of the increased friction they're not great for heavy vehicles. They're either very light vehicles (like BMP/PT-76 weight class) or it's a planet with lighter than normal gravity.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f_7Weam6q8

>>9058693CIS is the name of the droid army from star wars >Confederacy of Independent Systems
Hey what makes a good distinction between a fantasy race and an alien species when creating them. What's the line between them and how can I best use the blurI'm asking because I want to make a specific type of story that has that facet to it. It's a fantasy story with a number of fantasy-like races in medieval times in it but one of the twists is that each race is actually just an alien species. It has the making of a fantasy realm but you can look under into the workings and find the scifi in it. I want to include equal part tropey races and weird xeno species
>>9058693separatiststhe droids
>>9058695To add relevancy The speices that inspired/made the doridekas
>>9058696Draenei and Protoss are what I'd consider a good representation. Both are rather similar but one is fantasy and the other scifi.
>>9058696There really isn't a distinction other than what genre you list it under. Magic and scifi tech can be used in the same exact way. Go look into old pulp fantasy novels and you'd be surprised how much aliens and scifi stuff pops up in sword and sorcery style stories. Pretty sure there's a handful of conan stories that involves aliens too.Another easy example is how everything for warhammer fantasy was just moved over with minimal changes to make 40k.

>>9058687>Those are screw drives, literally screws driving the vehicle forwardsNo I'm aware, but if the vehicle is heavy enough like those MBTs, then the thing is gonna sink and the cab is gonna make contact with and scrape against the ground in anything softer than damp dirt three days after it rained
>>9058699how do they do anything when they don't even have digits?
>>9058696I think if you want them to be recognizable as fantasy races on a first glance, then the sci-fi elements will probably need to come in during deeper descriptions. Like another anon said about 40k, describing smaller details in their looks, powers and abilities, or biological processes with a sci-fi twist.I'm reminded of the Shannara Chronicles, where all the fantasy races are human mutants. There's also the dnd setting Nentir Vale, which has some wild races that don't adhere to standard fantasy tropes.Fun fact, I've actually had this idea of elves having bilateral symmetry on the inside as well as the outside, with all their internal organs being exactly mirrored on the right and left.

Lets say hypothetically I've been in prison for 5 years. Is /sbg/ called something else now? I can't find it in the catalog
>>9059256it help to know what it stands for
>>9059295It stood for "Space Babes General", it's where humanoid alien fuckers like me were forced to go to if we didn't want to be verbally accosted for posting little grey women in these /xeno/ threads.
>>9059256Honestly I'm not sure what happened to the anons that used to keep it up. Occasionally there might be an adjacent thread like the current mass effect one (the one with the quarian op) but I haven't seen a proper /sbg/ thread in a while. Sometimes they even have similar names like "exotic colored girls" and those have been very slow and one-off instances. Also greys weren't usually rejected, even quarians are still liked here.
>>9059311>Also greys weren't usually rejected, even quarians are still liked here.Back when I used to use it, the main reason it was kept up was because this thread was annoyed with a guy spamming Na'Vi porn.So anons who liked blue colored women sucking on human ballsThere was also a lot of animosity towards humanoid breasts and bimbo proportions. It was weird too, since AFAIK this thread still had the Na'Vi spammer, the Xenomorph 3D model bimbo spammer, and that guy who was actually obsessed with terraurge not getting any updates (V3 Never Ever was still a meme, but this guy CARED)

>>9059321>>9059325No worries. But yeah, looking back, even /sbg/ didn't really like the na'vi some of the time. Sort of an odd-on-out design for the generals. You're right about there being more of a push for less humanoid designs back then. Iirc, the hate was for slapping tits on canon 'flat' designs, though. And yeah, these threads were and can still be weird about certain things that were already here. Even the teraurge anon (or someone like him) is still around .

>>9060647No. The situation is that across the galaxy( possibly greater that that) magic gates appeared across a world, creating instantaneous openings that connected different planets. You can walk through one and causally be transported an impossibly large amount of lights years in a morning stroll. However each world is essentially at the medieval point in their history. Each race does not see it as going through space but into other realms entirely, like from midgard to asgardFrom the perspective of one of the many races that are in the various connections it is a fantasy story, the meeting of fantastical creatures and beings but the underlying truth is that they are all aliens is a galactic story. Here's Chapter 29 of The Howler!>https://archiveofourown.org/works/61103611/chapters/195882006This ones about 5.5k words. I don't know how it got so long, but it's some more Eigen and Nithry shenanigans, as well as some mysterious turns for the story. Also, it's officially over 100k words now. Maybe that just means I'm too verbose, but it feels worth celebrating anyway!Something that definitely is worth celebrating is that I've finally been able to put together a canon design for the Fyrix! It feels a little bittersweet, needing to shut the door on some of the other designs I loved so much to choose only one, but I'm really happy with how they came out. The artist is Leafjuly, and I feel so spoiled with all the fanart I've received and being able to pick out some of my favorite parts to smash them all into one design. I've really got to shout out all the people here that helped with their look, I'm just beside myself with all the support my story has gotten. Part of me wanted to go for a more alien design, but they're written pretty explicitly to be insects, so I think they're fine looking space bugs.

I was going to wait until I finished another chapter, but I'm too excited to wait. Here's the finished reference sheet for the Fyrix! It felt vital to add a third pose that shows off a bit of their attitude as well as some clothing, since they're not *actually* naked all the time (except when they are because they don't really do it for modesty reasons.)I know next to nothing about fashion, and so I said as much to the artist when I asked her to just think up something on her own. I think she did an incredible job with it. It's got an elegant, but prudent approach to it, and I didn't direct her to, but the open chested design leaving access to the thoracic flanges is perfect. This really was a team effort. I've already shouted out Teng multiple times, but I've also got to shout out BadDay (I only recently realized that was you, I've loved your Baxxid art since before you drew me fanart) I really ended up liking the sort of yellow, cross refraction pseudo-pupil thing you added so it's canon now.
I combined the two and learned how to draw sweat in the process.I'm very proud of myself.
>>9065969I want her to probe me until she fills my tummy with her genetic material :3
>>9065847I was wonder how clothing would work on them, as there were plenty of mention of it throughout the story (exosuits, Zyrrs' stole, Vaeren's livery, combat uniforms and the Apex's robes at the Inquisition). It makes sense that they would wear more free-flowing clothing as I would believe that the abdomen and exoskeleton would be an issue for more fitted clothing otherwise. Plus, their homeplanet seems to be much warmer than Earth so they wouldn't be needing to dress for warmth and like you said, modesty isn't a issue with them. Their clothes having their thorax exposed is such an inspirated design, yet so obvious when you think about it.I can see that clothing is more to show their level of prestige in accompany with their viraas in its most fancy form and for function (like pocketing stuff) in its most basic. Still, gotta side with Quillion on this if that picture is any indication, I do like their sense style.I can just imagine the mindset of the Fyrix being like this comic.
>>9065969By any chance, would you be open to requests? Or perhaps any socials you do more art on?

>>9063213Does blood color and tissue lining actually correlate?
Me not snapping on my own self imposed SFW policies and breaking them at all in a crash out against myself
>>9066305Ye.That's what give it it's color.
>>9066305The red/pink tissue coloring in vertebrates comes from myoglobin. It stores oxygen in tissue, and contains iron just like hemoglobin. In theory a creature could use myoglobin while using an entirely different pigment for blood.
>>9066313I'm into endosoma vore so this is very relevant to know. I am also guessing like with how tissue lining in humans is pinkish, you would have a lighter, less saturated color with their tissue lining so a lighter indigo purple with purple blood aliens, a lighter shade of green for green blood, something like sky blue with blue blood and so on?
>>9066314To elaborate, losing color in the body comes from oxygen depletion, which is why the body turns pale whether you died of blood loss or not.
Lewdpencil here, with an update on this one! Hope you all enjoy the new details! Still lots of work to go on it!
>>9066414Nice.
>>9066414If we're not getting a birthing scene I am going to radicalize myself and join an extremist organization
>>9066504Better start submitting applications, because I'm not really that into birthing, so there won't be one! BUT, before you start assembling car bombs, let me say this: the scene you can imagine following this one, will always be better than anything I could ever draw!
>>9066507https://youtu.be/HMb-_ag5vYg
>>9066507>the scene you can imagine following this one, will always be better than anything I could ever drawThat's pretty respectable, in my opinion. Sometimes its better to leave some things to the imagination, because the implication of something is more enjoyable to think about than showing it outright.
>>9066507Lewpencil, a question: are the predators in the background statues or other living predators?
>>9066566I really enjoy NOT showing everything! And leaving some things up to your imagination (like what might've led up to this scene here)!>>9066584It's a bunch of statues, which make up the surface of the wall. I deliberately made them exaggeratedly proportioned and idealized, and dark blue and shrunk the arms and tucked them behind the statue to communicate this. A sort of "Venus of Predadorf" deal.
>>9066317Makes sense. But you don't usually see pure white even with organs that have been out of the body...
>>9066647Myoglobin is still red when deoxygenated, just like blood, it turns to a much lighter color.

i made a post on /wsr/ but its slow as fuck and i think its vaguely xeno enough to ask here. theres images of this sculpture(?) of a small, eerie, pale white/pinkish creature on all fours i used to see posted on 4chan in the past. it had hair and a tail too i think. there was a pic of it outdoors in the woods i think. it looks kinda like a weird human genetic hybrid but i think it could pass as xeno too. does anyone know what im talking about? googling cant find it

>>9067213YES thank you anon. i cant manage to find who made it with reverse search but it leads to the rest of the images i think, so thanks.
>>9065847Oh no! They look even more cute now! They will get so mad when I take them even less seriously! But they also look really bad-ass and regal, in a mecha sorta way at the same time, and all the sharp edges in their limbs make them look really cool. It is a fantastic look. The subtle but easily spotted flanges are nice, their long flower-fingers are very well integrated, I really like the mouth parts, and their owl-style double-taloned tarsi are rad!And the freckle spreckles of very light color here and there are beautiful. Gives one an opportunity to compare them to the starry sky when (probably futilely) flirting with a fyrix!Yeah, that is a fantastic outfit, with the tassels and antennae adornments! Looks properly refined and upper-class on them, but would be a very exotic and provocative attire if worn by a human. And their clothes not getting in the way of their emanations would indeed be a high priority.>I've loved your Baxxid art since before you drew me fanartI'm very flattered!Hearing people say such things is always such a pleasant but strange surprise to me, since I'm a stereotypically self-doubting artist. Picking a niche thing that almost nobody else draws sure lets one get far with relatively mediocre skills!I actually got the cross pseudo-pupils from the hint of one in Tengridus' initial sketch here, but I went all in with it because it looks cool. And the yellow eyes are more or less just a mirroring of the colors too. Yellow eyes might not make much evolutionary sense, but I wanted to have some exciting color contrast as well. So they are quite aesthetically pleasing.
>>9065847How big and tall are they on average? You have made such an interesting and distinct species and society in addition to good story
>>9067390Well, someone already asked and posted a little comparison chart earlier in the thread, but I guess this will make it a little more clear. Small enough to manhandle and generally terrify, but not so small that mutual cooperation isn't impossibly difficult.
>>9066282What's your request anyway?Out of curiosity.
>>9064968>Read part 1 and 2 of the story that picture is referencingThey seem so cute with each other and the sex was hot as hell.>Read part 3Ingan better keep his head down if he wishes to live to see 30. A bullet is the least of what he deserve for treachery against his entire species. Zil is still cute tho. He deserves to buttsex Ingan more, but only because Ingan clearly likes it less.
>>9067417hold gently like hamburger
>>9067417That's a wild size difference. Is life on Earth just built different in your setting?
>>9067469not the author but IRL bugs have a cap on how big they can get due to both oxygen in the atmosphere and gravity. Earth had huge ass bugs when it had like 40% oxygen, and sea bugs are a lot bigger than land bugs because the buyoancy helps with the body structure.
>>9067474Earth didn't just have more oxygen but also like ten times as much atmosphere in total. Its why plants and animals were much more massive in general. In the story I'm pretty sure all the intelligent species are much smaller than humans, and it sounds like most animals are as well. The scariest animal to a Fyrix is like a small dog/cat thing. Maybe they went full NoP and killed off all dangerous predators or megafauna.
>>9067469NTA but on the chapter with the Sovereign Superiors, practically all of them we shocked by the size of the human compared to the Fyrix so it clear that they have never seen anything like this before. Zyrrs has even called him the largest land predator ever recorded and theorized that Earth is 2 or 3 times the size of their homeplanet due to the density of our bones (it took their industrial hydraulic press machine to snap one).>>9067481>and it sounds like most animals are as wellThat's kinda true even on Earth really.>Maybe they went full NoP and killed off all dangerous predators or megafauna. They did, one in particular is the ginru which was the apex predator that ate them. They even removed all of the jungle. But they ended up bring all of that back because they were proud of their pre-history of being prey until they developed weapons and seek to bring back and preserve the jungle that they came from (as well as a way to banish criminals but shhh).Really, you should give it a read when you find the time. Someone called it a "NoP but good " before and I couldn't agree more (I would say it's also HFY done right but it doesn't seek to undermine the aliens to make the human seem better which is what many bad HFY stories do)

>>9067554>>9067648Funny thing is the problem with Stellaris design is it's both trying to hard to be unique that it just becomes unmemorable gibberish, and yet it's all a skin on concepts that are so bitch basic they bore anyone to tears. It's the worst extremes of both worlds.

>>9068164>Taken in to profile the greys
>>9068266Yeah with preperation sure anything can die but realistically once enraged in the moment nothing is gonna be able to stop it from battering whatever provoked it into the ground, their big size is why they're mostly good natured and don't actively seek out violence but if provoked or enraged they flip the switch and turn into something very scary and nigh unstoppable.
>>9065172They are one lovely couple I wonder he was one who survive fennel death thighs when they met
>>9068245>>9068286This whole "human are like elephants" thing just gives a new perspective on the part of the Howler story when the human does his escape from the research facility, where it plays much like the elephant named Tyke and her rampage. >>9067901it would be nice to see an inverse of Snek take off and get big, just because the idea humans not getting shown up by the diversity hires would be nice and every story being 'here's how the alien pushes you around despite being entirely dependent on mankind to not be stone age savages' gets fucking annoying

>>9067738>i wish there were more stories like that, especially with the alien topping the human. or, considering the possibilities of xenobiology, doing both at the same time.I would like to see more of that too, but /xeno/ style content is a rarity in itself, yet alone a gay version where the human get topped. I'm just bothered that Ingan seem to be getting off cleanly after selling out humanity like that over them setting up quarantine due to a pathogen scare that could easily be as deadly for the Annenoids as it could have been for us. It also seems like it had caused a massive strain in the diplomatic relations between Annenoids and Humans seeing that the overly generous offer that the Annenoid has gave us was met with a maybe (and may take years to even get started as we would take forever to see if we prevent a new turncoat). That doesn't bold well for the future and at worst, I can foresee that the relationship might end up falling apart and us telling the bugs to get their portal off our planet. At best, we basically tell Ingan and, by extension, Zil to fuck off if they ever ask us for favors.>Ingan is asking for coffee? Tell him to eat shit.>Zil want the death metal music back? Tell him he's getting ZILch.>Ingan's parents are passed away and he want to go to their funeral. Should've thought of that soon before doing that shit.

>>9068806Don't get me wrong, the alien being biologically female as a need I can get, you want a soft orifice that you know causes them pleasure and a vagina analog is the best bet for that. Prostate analogs aren't a given from what I understand.
There would also be female aliens who get off to being stabbed because there are real life bugs who mate with the male stabbing the female to inject sperm into them. Thoughts?
>>9069120i don't mean just gay stuff. i mean aliens like Species 8472, where they have multiple biological genders, or maybe even only one. it's not alien enough for me that maybe they just don't have tits; i want their methods of copulation or reproduction to transcend our human understanding, while also still being pleasurable. you could still incorporate a few fetishes here and there if you want, though. just spitballing:>alien requires you to suck out fluids from one of it's big soft fluid sacks/flesh balls (boobs, but maybe placed differently) before it will open up to penetration>alien copulation typically involves both parties injecting sex fluids into each other's orifices>alien requires you to hug it so tight that it triggers the biological mechanisms that open up its body for sex>alien completely envelopes your entire body from your waist to your knees>you need to stimulate the alien until it ejaculates upon you before its body will accept you as a mate>alien copulation requires multiple partners for multiple stages of sexthe possibilities are endless.

He writes vaguely military scifi with humanity in this weird schrodingers position of military powerhouse in the alien coalition, but never outright being the core power or winning on their own merit. His humans always get shown up by aliens, and its definitely driven by his femdom focus that results in even 'normal' guys being pushovers or chew toys instead of actual partners. And yeah, >>9068609, his website is a fucking mess to read or navigate and is little better than the old Pastebins he used.

I can imagine a spin of that where humans do something innocuous and the xeno impromptu doesn't want to admit they're getting their erogenous area set off.As for being led on from the start, almost positive there was a story that did that but I think it got lost in the great pastebin purge.
>>9069688only someone completely retarded would risk that.maybe if that was unofficial contact with some hippie deep in bumfuck nowhere, far away from cameras and diplomats.
>>9069622You must just shake the hand of the Prehensile cock alienI'm sorry I don't make the rules, you just have to.

>>9069622>Be assured, our fumes are safe to breathe>It is their cum pollenOkay maybe not the best example since we breathe in plant cum all the time by the logic
>>9069441I beat the first one and didn't see any mention of him at all, I'm sure I missed something but I did do a lot of exploring and interaction with NPCs. You don't learn much about her past.
>>9069271>stab stab stab>cuddlePic related>>9069622>>9069705>give an alien a deep bow out of respect>they see that as an invitation to assfuck you with tentaclesOR>try to look clean for first contact, but accidentally step in a mud puddle>they blush, in their unique xeno way>their species primarily breeds in the mud pits>meaning you look like you just got done fucking>or you've just made your intentions for their women very clearOR>first contact goes well, but there's one catch>in their culture, to finalize an alliance, a member of the coalition must marry the cheifs eldest daughter and consumate under the stars>meet the xeno princess>she's shy, but determined to see this through for the good of the people>the commander says that you must secure this alliance, no matter what>the chief science officer wants you to take extensive notes on the whole process
>>9069453I'm not sure digitigrade legs bend that way...

>>9069930shizo to shizo communications
>>9069438nta let me explain>non BInary (I'm not taking part in your binary system of male or female)>non BUYnary (I'm ain't buying yo woke shit dawg)It's a pun. Because Bi and Buy are very close in term of sounds and pronounciation. It's that simple
>>9069941It's a rather basic play on words
>>9069984But binary only has 1 y and no u in it
>>9069927We need more stories about First Contact fubars. So far we have Howler of the Void and Leaving the Cradle
