Keep things light and enjoyable. You need her to mentally associate you with having fun. So, for example, don't discuss politics on a first date: if you do, the conversation will turn serious, and people will talk about things that up upset them.

Also, don't go to see a movie. If you do, the two of you will end up sitting in darkness for two and a half hours, not speaking to each other. The idea is to interact and get to know each other.
