I work a pretty comfy job in the aerospace industry as an engineering QC guy. However, I feel underpaid and undervalued in my current position and want to job hop for more money and different responsibilities. In doing so, I hope to take 4-8 weeks off to go travel, mainly to Australia/NZ and parts of southeast asia. Normally I would be more prudent in balancing my finances, but I live at home and may never be able to do this again. How do I job hop but still claim a month or two of unpaid vacation before starting at my new role? Are employers averse to that?
That really is up to the employer. Some will be fine when you say you want your starting date to be 3 months from now.
