Girlfriend needs to have an emergency surgery done on her mouth. The problem is it costs a lot and she doesn't have any money. I paid off a large chunk of my debt this year and paying for her surgery will would mean all my hard work was for nothing. I really don't want to. what should I do?

Obviously, just ignoring it the way she did probably isn't going to make it better. Its going to make it worse, and that emergency could get worse or more expensive. Most western nations have a way that insurance, charity or the state itself can take care of hardship cases. The hospital still gets paid, but you have to file the relevant paperwork and/or talk to the relevant government organization to make sure they know you're categorically in need. Push her to do that, and make it clear that you going into debt is absolutely not an option. If they can't handle that, you go back around to leaving.Sorry its come to this OP, but making the right decision for yourself isn't something you should ever let someone make you feel guilty for.
