I graduate with a le compsci degree soon but I don't feel like giving up on life and getting a gay 9 - 5 office job yet.I want to become a bartender at a bar or nightclub. I hope this would help me unautism myself, maybe even meet cool people. What do you guys think?
>>32317610I honestly think it would suck watching people have fun while you have to work.
>>32317742The work would be kinda fun though, just making drinks with music. many people don't like club music but I don't mind it. I like the upbeat atmosphere. Is it common for bartenders to get with club sloots?
I never go to bars I'd feel so out of place working as a bartender, I wouldn't even know how to make the drinks and there are countless made-up names of drinks I have no clue
>>32317768>I wouldn't even know how to make the drinks and there are countless made-up names of drinks I have no clueI would do a bartending course first. It's only 2 weeks I think and costs 900 euro. I wouldn't know what to do without it.
I know a bunch of people who work as bartenders. Many of them quite intelligent.Give it a try.
>>32317753>Is it common for bartenders to get with club sloots?Yes, but it's also common for bartenders to be fun, confident, outgoing, and to know how to talk to people. That isn't you, as you've said yourself many times.
>>32317849yes, but womb-men approach me semi-frequently at bars/ clubs so if I worked there my chances would be even higher. That and i'd get to learn to socialize too.
>>32317849You're trying to set up people for failure and I really need you to shut the fuck up.
>>32317863appreciate it, anon. This guy follows me everywhere and hates on everything I try to do.
>>32317855>so if I worked there my chances would be even higher. Why? What do you think magically changes when you're on the payroll? You can learn to socialize there already, so why don't you?
>>32317863>simping for creepshot anonA new low, now I've seen everything.
>>32317869That pisses me off. He's not necessarily following you particularly, he's full of it, only knows learned helplessness.
>>32317919>A new low, now I've seen everything. How are you going to deal with it?
>>32317916>Why? What do you think magically changes when you're on the payroll? You can learn to socialize there already, so why don't you?because I would go from being there once or twice a month to 5 times a week. Basic math or something. >>32317934he keeps track of little things about me. It's really weird and creepy. He knows that it's my thread because I mentioned I want to be a bartender in a different thread.
>it's so creepy that people actually READ the threads I've repeatedly made every few days!!You scare very easily OP.
>>32317985you're such a loser
>>32317959>he keeps track of little things about me. It's really weird and creepy. He knows that it's my thread because I mentioned I want to be a bartender in a different thread. He knows no better. That's actually it, he does not know better.

>>32317610Work on your social skills bit before going into it, overall it will improve on social skills you already built up before hand and if you end up being likable you'll make pretty good tips.

>>32317610I used to volunteer work at the student pub when I was a student. That was kind of fun, and a good way to socialize. It's one of my fondest memories from that time, which was otherwise a pretty shitty time of my life.I've heard from real bartenders though, that working at a nightclub is a whole 'nother level in terms of stress and you're actually expected to be competent. I don't think I personally could hack it. Could be fun if you can.

>>32322484Yes. Takeordermakedrinkprocesspaymentnext!, all in a very noisy environment. The pressure on the bar is apparently crazy at nightclubs.

>>32317610It will be stressful but it depends on which kind of establishment you work at. A fancy bar is much different from a pub or a club. The nightclub won't leave much room for conversation because of the loud music and hectic pace, but most people ask for very easy drinks so it won't be that bad. Give it a try if you want and see what happens, some things are best experienced rather than explained.
I recommend that you look up festivals in your local area and apply to work there. They provide employment for a few days, from a weekend to a week, in a stresful environment. It¡s basically a crash course, if they accept newbies and often they do because they need a lot of people serving drinks. If you can keep that pace for as long as it last (it'll be hours upon hours of intensive work) you'll know if you're up to the task.

>>32322484You need to make them well. If someone has a problem with their drink even once, you could have trouble. A line of people, maybe they're a bad drunk, worse if they want some sort of refund. Why don't you try working as a barista first? Coffee is easier even though it does has its tricks.
>>32328723I'd prefer to be in the kind of environment that bars/ clubs offer. I don't want to work in a coffee shop or restaurant. I'd take a 2 week bartending course first. >>32326008I'll look into that, thanks.
