There's something wrong with my head. I spend all day on the computer, I put very small thing off forever until they explode and cause major problems, I fail to get anything done. I'm practically comatose. I've been trying to do better for a long time now, but every day I say 'tomorrow is the day we start not being a pile of shit'.

I'm considering trying alcohol (or any other kind of legal mind-altering chemical) to adjust the way my brain thinks to get me out of this stupor. Does this work?

Here is your problem bozo, no amount of "mind-altering chemicals" will fix you. apart from maybe meth
>>

Alcohol will only make it worse. Just try to cut out the distractions, maybe go to a library or something

>'tomorrow is the day we start not being a pile of shit'.
have you tried saying "today" instead?
go tech-free for a week and you'll probably be too bored to do "nothing". try it.
also, try not to add substance abuse on top of your other problems.

Tech free for a week is too extreme I think. No internet for a few hours is a good start for anon though. It's definitely helped me in the past

>Does this work?
Absolutely not. I used substances for the exact same reasons as you. Alcohol, weed, LSD, shrooms. At best they either didn’t work (LSD/Shrooms) or made the problem x10 worse (alcohol/weed). It will make your current predicament seem like a fucking joke, alcohol sank me further down the spiral for almost 10 years.

Despite this anon’s facetious statement, he’s speaking true there. The only chemical that can partially correct your fucked up executive function (power of will/focus) would be drugs in the meth family.

Most people settle for Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse/Tyvense/Elvanse) or Methylphenidate (Ritalin/Concerta). Or just straight up Adderall (amphetamine and dextroamphetamine combo).

Notice how all the drugs have names that sounds like it takes similarity to Methamphetamine (Meth). It’s because it’s all the same category, all derivates of amphetamines.

Amphetamines ‘cure’ your problem OP. But you should only ever consider those if you have an actual diagnosable mental disorder causing your issues, namely ADHD. So don’t self medicate with it until you
a) get diagnosed, if at all
b) get prescription amphetamine derivatives safe for consumptions (that’ll be vyvanse/ritalin and debatably adderall).

Those drugs are also only a short term fix. Gives you enough drive and focus to go learn (or unlearn) the things that cause your main issue. Could be emotional, dietary, health, environment. Could be you need to learn structure, habit, routine. Who knows. The ideal is you should never require substances to function. If you have to, at least get the right ones through legitimate diagnosis and prescription.

Don’t make the same mistakes I did. Touching alcohol at this juncture of your life will ruin you.

"Medicating" with alcohol, lol. It's an oxymoron. There is no medicinal use for alcohol, besides disinfecting a wound.

you’ll end up in the hospital having your stomach pumped because you tried to drink yourself to death and cement the fact you’re a disappointment to everyone in your life. don’t drink.
>>
Maybe I'll try weed instead. Should I get a vaporizer or edibles?
>>

you're already being mind-altered by the computer all day

half a mouthful of whiskey while you're getting ready to go out probably won't hurt in this case
but alcoholism becomes very not-fun if it gets it's hooks into you

Brooo I wrote all this out for you: >>32564840

Weed is shit too. All you do with weed is sit there like a couch potato and swim around in your own intensified thoughts and heightened senses and look at the vivid and bright lights of your immediate environment. If your goal is to stop doing nothing, weed will make ‘nothing’ feel amazing so you keep doing nothing until eventually weed just becomes brainfog and no longer enjoyable.

Yes anon drink alcohol it works
people act like it's bad or can be addictive but its not and its actually really good for you and tastes good after a while.

I started alcohol maxxing a about half a decade ago and now I drink about a Liter of vodka a day and feel better than I ever have before.
What I've noticed is that it gets you out more, I've started getting a lot more women, my relationships have improved greatly, my job has gotten better (promotion), I finished school, and the lows of my life aren't actually that bad whilst the highs are higher each time and feel amazing.

I would recommend drinking as much as you can today because it's never too late to start improving

Alcohol helps reduce anxiety. When it feels like a necessity it means you are overloaded with stress..Unfortunately, that means you need to get all the shit you wanna do done. Even while working hard towards the goal you eventually find a comfort zone, and enjoy downtime in between tasks.
