I'm a mental midget, my entire life I've been labeled at the "dumb guy". I struggle with basic mathematics, logical thinking, and I can't retain any knowledge at all. I barely passed high school, and got very low grades for the few community college classes I took. Being a brainlet (and knowing that I am one) makes me severely depressed because I'm too dumb to accomplish any of my goals, or do anything meaningful in life because I can't understand very basic things. Any attempt at trying to improve myself is met with mockery and people making fun of me. Life feels impossible for me.What do I do? What CAN I do? My life feels like it's over before it really began, predetermined before my birth because I lost the genetic lottery.
>>32595659Intelligence is a weapon, like a gun. Some people have got some really impressive guns, real state-of-the-art intellect. So you say you’re a mental midget, your intelligence weapon is a fuckin’ pea shooter. Ah well. So lets talk about ammunition, let’s look at the bullets. Let’s consider wisdom. Wisdom is not like intelligence, wisdom is accessible to anyone, absolutely anyone. It takes experience and pain, longsuffering. You get silver bullets. Peashooter or not, you’re going to be far better off in life than those without it. You outgun someone with high intellect whose mind is a sniper rifle if you got those bullets of wisdom. Nothing can touch you. There are people, loads of them, with high intellect, who have a sniper rifle brain, but their bullets are peanut shells. They go nowhere in life. You see ‘em all the time, ‘gifted children’, high achievers in academics, but where are they now? Rotting and withering away somewhere. They lacked wisdom. So just get wisdom.
>>32595659if you can find your passion, then you should pursue it regardless of what others think. be committed to it, treat it as if it were a job. being lost is far worse than mockery.
>>32595682I think this is a great reply, thank you. However, in my life I've noticed that no one listens to a fool, even if they make a good point. Being wise but still being ignored would be frustrating. That isn't to say that wisdom isn't valuable, this is still something I will work towards. How do you become more wise? Is is just more worldly experience?>>32595774I'm working on trying to find my passion. I don't have any real hobbies (I basically only play video games and read manga/anime), I've tried many things (various instruments, crafting, TCGs, TTRPGs, etc.) but nothing makes me passionate. In high school I used to want to be a film director, game developer, or creative writer but those things require great skills that I severely lack, and was not born with. But I still agree with you, thank you for your reply.
>>32596062>but those things require great skills that I severely lack, and was not born withnobody was born with those skills. you can learn them if you want. oftentimes people can get very good at something they seemed "bad" at in a school setting. when you have a sense of purpose you can achieve a lot.
Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly. What more can the king’s successor do than what has already been done?I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness. The wise have eyes in their heads, while the fool walks in the darkness;but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both. Then I said to myself,“The fate of the fool will overtake me also. What then do I gain by being wise?”I said to myself, “This too is meaningless.”For the wise, like the fool, will not be long remembered; the days have already come when both have been forgotten.Like the fool, the wise too must die!
>>32595659>>32596062You know what you can build with low intelligence? Wisdom like >>32595682 said, but also discipline, integrity, courage, perseverance, strength, focus, ambition, honor. Do whatever it takes to achieve your full potential. Don't think about others. Don't care about their opinions. You live YOUR life the best way you can.
>>32596062>How do you become more wise? Is is just more worldly experience?Yep. See you already got it one go. Wisdom is all about simplicity. Intelligence is about complexity. And if you want to have a good life, you’ll live simply. And wisdom will make you glad, too. People who live in complexity often live miserably. The smartest of them will choose wisdom over their own intelligence in the end. You got this dude. No one listens to the wise much either. They don’t know how to tell the difference between the fool or the wiseman. That’s their bad luck. Ignore what others think, and focus on how you want to live.
