Obsession with deceased celebrity?

This is not a joke, please take it seriously.
I've had an obssession with Karen Carpenter for nearly 8 years now. And it's just growing day by day. I cannot last a single day without her voice, and often fantasize about her as well as how I could save her in some kind of time machine like Jeff Mangum with Anne Frank. I genuinely am in love with her, her voice, her movement, her manners, her life story etc. I cry to her voice at least once a week, and look at her pics on a regular basis.

fuck I've never fallen in love with anyone as much as her and I've had my fair share of manic pixie gfs. I just couldn't help but compare them to Karen. The painful fact remains that she passed away well before my time and I will have to cope with the fact that I will NEVER meet her in this lifetime. I just want to give her a hug and tell her how beautiful she is and how she has a once in a lifetime voice as well as drumming skills.

What should I do? I've had my fair share of obsession with celebs dead or alive, from Shelley Duvall to Carol Kane to Winona Ryder but there's just something about Karen that drives me absolutely insane. Almost as if she was my past life lover.

So what's your problem? There are plenty of records, and as long as mommy and daddy are prepared to support you, just sit in your room listening.
>>
Try Toni Tennille. She sounds the same and is still alive (at 85)

am I a loser anon? I have a good paying job and a decent social life, but this obsession is just too much for me to handle. I can be a social butterfly but as soon as I get home I just wanna get in touch with Karen's voice and touch her physically.

I've got to say this is kind of based. Being in love like this with a deceased person is some poetic shit and there's nobody you can hurt or creep out by it because, well, she's dead.
If you're posting here because you want to get over it, then just stop entertaining it. Don't listen to her music, don't look at images of her, if you think about her try to distract yourself, actively try to find women to date irl and love them on their own merits, not because of how they compare to her. Even the strongest love will eventually die down if you don't feed it.

Should I nurture my love for her anon? U are the first person to think my love for her is based. Unironically.

I can't decide that for you, it's up to you. If it causes you pain or disrupts your life in any way then don't. Otherwise it's probably harmless.

also, I hope this doesn't creep you out anon, I've read nearly all of her stories from the media as well as those who met her irl, her personalities, her quirks and behavior, watched nearly every video of Karen's from when she was a young girl participating in game shows up until a couple of months before she passed away.

At this point she feels more like a friend to me than some of my friends. She is my love and my life. My ideal partner, bare none, and I've never even met her (in this physical form anyway. I do believe that we are spiritually connected somehow and will meet in the next life. many lsd trips have let me to believe that Karen fulfills a certain role in the spiritual realm that caters to my higher self, that no matter what she's always going to be there for me and fills my soul with her voice).

Last I was in a relationship I was actually mad at my ex gf for talking smack about her singing albeit jokingly. Karen holds that a special place in my heart.

I had a similar thing (albeit not with a real deceased person but a fictional character) down to the spiritual connection part so I say honestly if she fulfills you, good for you. Maybe we're both schizophrenics, I don't care though.

I had something similar but much worse. Back a few years ago I came across a news story about a college student that was shot and killed in a botched car jacking near his campus. I actually found his twitter where this person was very vocal and just read through his entire young life. He was active until the afternoon he was killed. His family was on twitter too so I read through their posts and heartbreak after his slaying. Just really sad emotional stuff. Kid seemed super smart and really going somewhere with his life while his killer was your run of the mill career criminal. Snuffed out on the cusp of adulthood.

Anyways, through his online footprint I made up a whole fantasy about him and a fictional girl meeting in college and becoming friends, and slowly falling in love through their 20s. Made a whole backstory up for the fictional love interest too. Planed out their love story like a movie and thought about their day to day life together in college while they were both coming to terms with their feelings. Weird to think you can just get snuffed out someday and some crazy rando thousands of miles away will discover your digital footprint and fetishize it for months.

Nothing you can do man. Think of her when you hump a gf.

That actually sounds very sweet anon

I think that you can love her but you should still attempt to live a full life. having obsessions is a great way to stay motivated in life but dont let them become like a drug. You should try to get some real girlfriends and maybe have kids. you seem chill

I have had many gfs in the pass but they all led to failure even those emotionally and intellectually connected to me. In fact i am at a stage where i cannot love another irl person anymore: they all disappointed me. All the women I have rls with seemed to see me as either emotional trashbin or a figurative servant.

I have created a thread about my love for Karen Carpenter before and some anons pointed out that my love for Karen could be attributed to my low self esteem...i just dont get how they are connected tho. I also have autism as well as adhd. Not cripping but still, i am a little different from everybody.

Really? I felt it came off as creepy misery porn. I was kinda worried, one of the family members would find out somehow I was lerking so much. I never interacted with any of their posts but was still fearful. I guess I myself was going through some existential dread and was finding stories about young people being killed. I guess his story seemed particularly sad because he was getting in shape, about to go to law school and seemed interested in finding a girlfriend. His conscious is just forever frozen on twitter.

What is it about women in the past that made them so attractive, fashion wise and personalities and looks?
>>

their role models had more talent. sex appeal wasn't a replacement for lack of talent.

I am kind of in the same way as you right now but with princess diana, but not in a mentally and weird lover way like you are right now, And Diana isn't the only female celebrity I like. I think it pretty normal to love a dead celebrity as long you don't do something crazy like fucking her dead body or some shit
