If I don't manage to have a six figure income by the time I'm 35 or 40, is that entirely my fault?
>>

If you live in the United States I would say so. It seems pretty much any management role regardless of industry breaks you into 6 figures over there.

Yeah my gf has a sister that makes 10k a month baking wedding cakes in her own kitchen. Got to think outside the box. Work smarter not harder. Look for opportunities that do not require formal education or even working for an employer.

>10k a month baking wedding cakes in her own kitchen
Holy fucking shit.... um, well, I know a little bit of programming. How the fuck do I make 10K a month from that?!
>>
no, we are living in the new world order. none of this is our fault

Weddings are expensive. Even flowers cost thousands.

She watched baking youtube videos and sent post cards to rich neighborhoods to get customers. Eventually word of mouth took over and now she gets a few clients per week with almost no effort.

100k individual income puts you in the top 18% of the population overall. Do you live in a HCOL area or a LCOL area? Do you after an honest assessment consider yourself top 20% as an individual, even compared to people that have 20-30 years of experience on you?
>>
>>32600565
The average house requires a salary of 150k now. Imagine being top 18% and you still can't own a home. Kek.

Just inherit one from your boomer parents.

How do you figure? I can buy a decent 3bd 2ba house for around 300k, amortized monthly payment to afford that with 6.5% loan is 1700/mo. If you made 60k a year (approx 50k after tax or just over 4k a month) you could afford such a property.

hey isn't that what happens in breaking bad?

You're wrong or you live in a major city in which case find a job elsewhere a couple hours away or find a job that pays more.
https://www.zillow.com/learn/buying-starter-home/

Average starter home cost 170k in January of 2023, home prices havent increased that much since the pandemic as interest rates skyrocketed. Btw, median single family home (2000sq ft) costs 360k and is much larger than a 3 bd, 2 bd starter. So I actually overvalued starter home costs probably because I live in a MCOL city and 300k gets you a decent place in the suburbs here. A nice 4 bd, 3 ba house will run about 375-400k in my city in a decent suburb.

Oh if you meant Average individual income, for men in 2023 it was 67k so I slightly under estimated that in addition to slightly overestimating housing costs.i

You sound young and a bit new here.

Nearly everyone, if not everyone on this site is larping when they say they make six figures. Don't believe me? Lurk any thread on /tv/ or the like where they post food threads (/ck/ doesn't count). They eat regular poor people shit not fancy French dishes nor sirloin steak.

The economy is shit and people are poor. Don't waste your life or your potential but also don't let people here meme you into kys if life doesn't play out well.

4chan is great and has good advice sometimes, but you need to learn to tell when someone's memeing and when they aren't.
>>
Almost anyone “can” make 6 figures if you grow up in the US, but you need to make certain milestones by certain ages before that’s possible

>>32602065
6 figure absolutely is not “eating sirloin steak” everyday status. 6 figures is the combined income of a couple that makes 50k a year each. Depending on where you live, that isn’t that much.

Granted, I dont think most people on 4chan make 6 figs
>>
>>32602076
oh really
>>
>>32600154
It isn't even an option if you are a zoomer or gen alpha outside of being an mba grad. Retirement, savings, housing, basically anything really is pointless now for those gens so you might as well live fast and die young.
>>
>>32603397
Six figures while single in Misouri and six figures in NYC with 2 kids is different, yes really. Obviously.
>>
>>32603438
Ok
>>
>>32603432
I like how you have to specify it's "gen alpha" because there are going to be no alphas from that generation.
And the next one will just be called beta topkek they knew what they were doing.
>>
>>32602076
>the combined income of a couple
WAIT is THAT what they count? So the people that say it and actually mean it that they're worth 6 figures, means they're counting their combined family in too?
>don't let people here meme you into kys if life doesn't play out well.
and why shouldnt they? you said it yourself this is it, everything's shit and its only going to get worse. the jobs are shit, the people are shit, jacking off too long gets boring, no matter how you try you wont make it anymore and even if you do no one really cares. only inner tenacity and religion keeps me here--and that my folks would be sad--but for other people i dont blame em
