Pulled some CD cases out of my attic and a lot of them have these little black specs on them. They seem to be permanently adhered to the case. No amount of scrubbing cleans them off. They feel almost completely flat, to the point where I can't even tell which side of the clear plastic they are on.
>>
It sounds like the black specs might be residue from age or dust that’s embedded into the plastic over time. Since they’re so flat and stuck, they could be from something like deteriorating foam inserts or environmental factors in the attic. You might try using a soft microfiber cloth with a bit of rubbing alcohol to gently clean the area. If that doesn't work, it could be worth using a plastic-safe cleaner or a very mild abrasive, like a non-scratch eraser, to see if that helps lift the specs. Just be careful not to scratch or damage the case.

Okay, so it doesn't look like mold or something to you then? I would imagine that mold would clean up with clorox wipes pretty easily

It doesn’t sound like mold, especially if the specs are flat and seem stuck to the plastic. Mold typically appears as fuzzy or discolored patches and might have a musty smell, which doesn’t seem to be the case here. Since you've already tried scrubbing and it’s not coming off, it’s more likely just environmental buildup or something like old adhesive or foam residue. Clorox wipes might clean up mold, but if the spots are something more ingrained, it could require a different approach, like rubbing alcohol or a soft abrasive. If you're concerned about mold, though, you can give it a test in a small, discreet area to make sure it doesn't make things worse.

If people wanted chatgpt answers they would go to chatgpt. Stop copy pasting this shit in every thread.

I think one person putting the OP into ChatGPT and posting the reply is kind of funny actually and am happy that someone here is bothering to do it

People are fucking lazy. If their questions can be easily answered with a Google search or chatgpt then that's the response they deserve.

They're not lazy. Just ignorant.

They bothered to formulate the words to ask the question, which is more than AI dude is doing.

Hello mods. i think im a cute lil wiz imp and one of the better posters of /adv/. I think if I were banned forever you would miss me. I also think I'm a good poster and have proven this of being here for almost a decade. I am a very powerful imp and quite positive. If anything I have learned how to live a good life. I hope you are having a good day, 4chan mods. xoxo

I searched for examples of this online and found nothing. The closest thing I could find is disc rot, but these specs aren't on the discs, only on the case.

this honestly.
