Pulled some CD cases out of my attic and a lot of them have these little black specs on them. They seem to be permanently adhered to the case. No amount of scrubbing cleans them off. They feel almost completely flat, to the point where I can't even tell which side of the clear plastic they are on.
It sounds like the black specs might be residue from age or dust that’s embedded into the plastic over time. Since they’re so flat and stuck, they could be from something like deteriorating foam inserts or environmental factors in the attic.
