a girl complimented my anime shirt on campus and I was mustered a "th-thank you" then walked away. I had no idea what else I was supposed to say, it was obviously with the intention of starting a conversation, but I don't know how I was supposed to continue the conversation. what should I have said?
>>32602602For something like an anime shirt, you could have said >oh shit you watch (name of anime) too?!
>>32602606that sounds extremely autistic, and women are icked out by men that are too overenthusiastic
>>32602609You think, but you just have to have confidence. You have to be a real human. They don't like weird creatures.
>>32602626confidence isn't something you just immediately gain, the brain is complex and subconsciously thinks of a million things when you speak, and you absolutely need to have at least socially proficient to be confident, and someone who doesnt know how to respond to a compliment sure as fuck isnt socially competent
>>32602609women are icked out by men who overthink simple interactions, and who assume every comment is a romantic move, just relate to human beings and get out of your head
>>32602602YOU: Thanks. You know these characters?SHE (maybe): Yeah, though I've only seen it a couple of timesYOU: A friend put me on to it, and I just thought this image was funnySHE: sometyhing something somethingYOU: something something something. Oh, I'm Anon, by the way.SHE: I'm Anonette.YOU:I was planning on binging on the show this weekend. Would you like to join me?SHE: Maybe. Here's my number. Call me.
>>32602609>that sounds extremely autisticHe was already wearing an anime shirt in public; the autism was on full display and he was still approached.
>>32602602Depends more on the specific context. You have to actually pay attention to what someone is doing. When you say thanks, take a moment to look them in the eye. Did they stop to talk to you, or are they just walking by? If they stopped, and you look at them for a moment, that's the signal for them to continue talking if they had something to say. If not, I'd just nod and continue with whatever I was doing. If you're both stationary, then maybe you should start talking even if they didn't continue. For example, if you're both waiting in a lobby together.
