That's the key to improvement
The ideal cycle is to: -Listen to a song where you think you can match the style and range
-Sing along, record yourself singing along, listen to the recording, sing it alone, record yourself singing alone, listen to the recording, listen to the original song alone
-wait half a day or a full day and then listen to everything again in the same order
-do it again with another song

Yeah its good to use those videos where you follow along a scale with different phonetic sounds but you gotta listen to yourself singing to get a good voice

Wear headphones and listen to how you sound recorded through a mic. Your voice sounds different through air than it does through your skull
