I have a form of insomnia that prevents me from holding any job where I have to work from A time to B time. This is my only disability. Don't even bother wasting my time telling me to try to fix it. I need to find a way to work around this. I've started several threads on this topic before, and this is often where the thread ends up going. I can get myself to prepare for certain events and I can handle deadlines. I just can't function doing a job where I'm expected to show up and work from A time to B time. With the insomnia out of the way, what is the best engineering or other STEM job I could get? What degree should I get? I'm 24.5 years old, and I'm willing to give college another try. I've been on NEETbucks since I was 21, and I really want to move up in life. I can't just live like this forever. It's extremely depressing. I can't even get a girlfriend due to being broke and living with my dad. I'm willing to live with my dad for quite a few more years to save up money, though.I really want to go the university route, since I already receive quite a bit of money through NEETbucks, and it would be stupid to get a low-paying job that I have to work full time while only getting slightly more income overall. I've thought of getting a few odd jobs where I get paid under the table, but I haven't thought of what I would do. Drug dealing has come up a few times, but in the US, with all the blacks, it's a pretty risky job. I live in a red state, and I would get murdered at sentencing, and I really don't want a criminal record. I've read on how to do drug dealing on the dark net (dread). For the odd job route, what should I do? $20 per hour is the minimum I would be willing to work for. I don't have to pay taxes on it, which is based, but I wouldn't want to get scammed or deal with super trashy people. The less fancy equipment I need, the better, but I would be willing to save up a few thousands of dollars over a few months on tooling.
>>32603706You can’t get a job. That is the whole reason anyone with minor disability can’t, because they want to tell you what time to wake up.
>>32603782I actually get so much anxiety I can't even fall asleep or stay asleep thinking about needing to be up by a certain time. It really fucks with me. I comfy odd job situation where I just need to get the job done by a certain time would be ideal.
>>32603706>>32603843Remote job where you work by project plan without being monitored by some schedule
>>32603706>>32604449btw you could try getting the remote job at a company in a place where the timezone is basically opposite of yours
>>32604449Can you give some examples?>>32604453This wouldn't work, because my sleep issue has nothing to do with time zone or being an early bird or night own. I just have issues sleeping if I know I have to be up by a certain time.
>>32603706>>32604449>>32604453Also freelancer stuff would be compatible but it actually sucks because it's always a rat race, there's no career progression to speak of, it's full of scammer clients, and even some legit clients will try to low-ball or scam you in some way.So instead go for an official remote job with freelance format, I guess
>>32604457>Can you give some examples?Electric engineering for making, fixing, adjusting schematics for projects CAD for same but models and assemblies for projects Embedded programming for same but code, test, and debugSame for MATLAB stuff, physics simulation stuff, industrial process simulation, other programming, system simulation, neural network stuff, other stuffYou'll have to hop jobs for better pay and opportunities as you gain a year of experience each time on okay jobs btw, unless you'll be good with soft skills enough to know how to weasel yourself into promotions and/or higher pay every year
>>32604473So you recommend electrical engineering as an engineering option?
>>32604473Oh and absolutely get into at least a single internship while you're getting your degreeJob search will be harsh without formal experience otherwise
>>32604478Nah, everything I listedAlthough I'm just biased because I like those fields. Look at what they're about and see what you would be okay with doing with harsh commitment
>>32604478I actually wouldn't recommend it if you've never gotten formal education on it before. It's tough enough that it's often that even people who spend 10 years on it aren't very good
>>32604478>>32604496(I mean electric engineering)
