There's this girl I've met and with whom I'm talking for the better part of January and I think we fancy each other. I'm thinking of taking her on a nice date and taking it to the next step but I'm left with some information I don't know what to do with.She's a pretty open person and among other things she told me how she developed an Electra complex as a child. Namely she doesn't have any kind of sexual thoughts towards her father right now but she told me how it's a part of her I guess. I don't find it repugnant because she really seems honest and a prudent, conscientious girl, I even told her that I'm a bit of an Oedipal myself (as probably a lot of you here) but I think this is some sort of calling card.I'm not looking to manipulate her or anything but does anyone have any practical advice on dealing with girls that have severe daddy issues? I'm not looking to taunt her but to appease her. You could say that I'm exploiting a vulnerability but I'd just like to get closer to her, nothing mean.

I was expecting something Behaviorist or Freudian, maybe Lacanian but these seem pretty down-to-earth. I actually like reading about Jung but I don't read it as psychology per se, I like his exegesis on Nietzsche and the painter from Braunau and the like but nothing I use directly.Really what I respect in psychology is the behaviorist MK Ultra type of pavlovian literature with bits and pieces of advice, as well as something that's off-brand such as Nietzsche. But I'm just a nincompoop when it comes to the subject and I'm a STEM student so Godspeed.

It's when you realize you are a separate being from your parents and that your father is not a threat, but that you will be one day like your father. He talks very little about how this works for women and he never called it the Electra complex, but the point is that everyone gets it and then represses it so hard they forget about it.
>>32608007Yea point taken. I don't really think of myself as regressed but this girl is pretty heavy into it. Not only did she talk about it openly, but I could kind of sniff it out hearing how she talks to her father, about her father and seeing how she acts near her father, considering he picked her up one time. Along with that, she kind of does act tomboyish and I don't really have any objections to it - quite the opposite. I'm just looking what to do with this information because I've neither met anyone so open about it nor so afflicted by something like that.Bottom line is, I'd like to take this girl seriously and while I'm doing fine with her I'd like to do my best.
