jam along with your favorite songs. i guarantee most of them can be played via power chords. do this until your fingers no longer hurt. then learn the actual chord shapes to play the same songs. most people give up around here, but if you can figure out the rhythm part with the strumming hand and you can figure out how they're doing arpeggiated plucky type riffs (metallica - fade to black), there isn't much popular stuff you couldn't play.

Also, please, train your musical ear. Play without any guides, literally play, as if it were a game. Try to come up with melodies, songs or even chords. Listen to stuff and try replicating the sounds, the melodies.
