How silly would be for me to start going to church for the sole of purpose of *trying* to find friends/a new social circle in general? I don't think I could ever become a true believer desu.

Isn't that silly at all
>>
you have variation of this thread every day on /pol/, /adv/ and /r9k/.

if you are a figurative autist you will fit in nowhere. get a hobby that is actually fun for you. and the women in church can be massive sluts too.
>>

maybe not the worst idea if you can do so without pretending. they come together for something wholesome. christianity has some good principles and values. likely better place to search for good company than in a bar or something.
my father goes to church for the choir where he sings in and the organ music. he doesn't believe in shit. it's good for him to have this company.

I hope so.

Sorry, I only browse /adv/ and /tv/. I'm not autistic(as far as I know). I'm just a guy who was sheltered too much by neutoric parents and turned out to be socially obtuse and depressed. I want to start going out more, but I don't have many ideas about where to go
>>32605161
Which branch of Christianity should I get into?
>>
>>32605185
church isn't a good place for depressed people.
You're going to get a bunch of people who fake being happy and try to "cure" you with lies.
>>
The secrets of the world can be learnt in church and I would recommend starting with a quiet high anglican service. Once you get the idea that it is fucked for people who weren't raised as Christian then you can pivot to something more pliable to your needs
but you have to understand that everything you do stems from your belief. People will only want to be friends with you as much as you can resonate their piety
I've seen some shit

idk what options you have where you live. here (germany) it's lutheran protestantism or catholicism. i think the former is more sane.
if you're american you probably have more options with some more out-there schizo stuff. i think mormon chicks are hot. maybe you can even get multiple sister-wives if you pose as a new prophet and start a new fundamentalist offshoot. so i'd go for that.
>>
>>32605224
please elaborate about the sister-wife thing
>>
>>32605232
polygamy. multiple wives who are sisters. i heard that was somewhat common in traditional mormon culture. but now polygamy is forbidden and only practiced by some fundamentalist sect.

>don't think I could ever become a true believer
can you pretend for the whole time you're there?

church is like a pep rally or the military, they absolutely do not fraternize with people that aren't wholeheartedly enthusiastic

they will genuinely prefer hanging out with the worst repeated sinners in the world who fuck up their lives every year then have a discussion with a stable agnostic or atheist who has nuanced thoughts about moral realism
>>
I was raised in a Christian household but am not and was never a genuine believer. Despite this, I think church can still have a lot to offer if you find the right one for you. It can provide a great sense of community, and there's a lot of wisdom and inspiration to be found in the scripture. Try visiting different ones and see if you can find people who resonate with you. If not, no harm done.

It's fine, its better than nothing, people are usually welcoming in church. Also there might not be other options depending where you live
