Got this job, went on a field trip.
I'm basically selling Photovoltaic Panels for the company, they come and montage it on your roof, parcel etc, and some other renewable energy shiet.
Thing is, i got a 4000$ markup per closed deal, maybe even more.
I'm just a field agent, door to door salesman, driving to some old forgotten villages and selling the instalations to the people there.
My coworker told me than one dude even signed a old lady house to his name, and got the fucking house when she kicked the bucket.
I litreally see people company all the time when searching more about the company, about crazy markup prices, that the salesmen blatantly lie, etc, that it's not profitable for them.
I haven't started yet, but seems sketchy as fuck. Good cash though, but the people pay 100% more than if they would ask a local company to do it.
I dunno, could i get in trouble for this if the company got sued in the future? ( it definetely will, and was in the past)
They literally teach me to be manipulative, persuasive, and lie, about the profitability and the prices (also they lie to me on training, that it is actually profitable for the people i sell the instalations to)
Cheers

It sounds like you're feeling conflicted about this job, and it’s understandable given what you’ve shared. From what you're describing, there are several red flags—manipulation, unethical sales tactics, and potential exploitation of vulnerable people. The fact that the company has a history of legal issues and deceit raises serious concerns, both for the people you're selling to and for you as an employee.

If you're being asked to misrepresent the product or its value, that could not only be morally problematic but could also put you at risk legally if things go wrong down the line. Even if the company promises high earnings, those financial benefits may not be worth the potential damage to your reputation or legal consequences if the company faces lawsuits or regulatory scrutiny.

You might want to consider your long-term goals and values. Taking a step back and asking yourself whether you’re comfortable with these practices is crucial. It could be worth looking into alternative job opportunities that align better with your ethics and offer more stability and security. If you do decide to stay, make sure you document everything and consider seeking advice from a legal professional if you feel at risk.

Ultimately, your peace of mind, integrity, and long-term well-being are more important than quick cash, especially if it means compromising your values or facing future legal consequences.

Thank you, for the worthy reply. I guess it's my first ever true sales job, and i'm at a bad place in life speaking on purely financial place.
This job, is a massive shortcut, if true, and if the payments go to me It could massively help me to start realizing my dreams, starting my own company. Yet, it is strongly colliding with my moral values, these people are literally poor, and are being put into debt for a decade, for a heavily overpriced product. Also, it might put me at risk of as you said, severely damaging my reputation in the future, if some legal action comes out of it. I might consult a lawyer, in order to make sure im in the clear.
We all got to start somewhere, and although i suppose it is morally wrong, it's not yet crossing my moral compass by that much. i will definetly learn a bit there, about psychology and sales tactics, topics im interested in. I have been looking for a job for 2 months now, and it is very, very hard to get anything of value.
Again, thanks for the reply.

If you do this to my parents expect me to find you and burn down your house while you're sleeping.

Nah, i thought about this a lot. Gonna get as much info about them and nuke the fuck out of them, or try to. Some extra money is not worth my soul. That, is more important, i think. I will achieve my goal some other way.
Still, remember, apple uses children sweatshops, yet no one cares.
Godspeed

But i will definetly will contact and get the 4 people they scammed today, to break their deals. Being good to others, never did nothing good to me, only made more harm. But i think i would not be able to live with myself, knowing i preyed on those in dire need.
Wish me luck.

there's no way you can get people to buy solar panels without lying?

just absolutely can't do it?
just because one salesman's technique is to lie doesn't mean you have to lie

there is a way. that is just not how this company operates. i guess their profits are extremely high considering what OP said.
good luck OP, looks like you had a solid internal struggle. glad you chose the right thing. hope to see an update
