Should I learn programing now that Im unemployed? I studied business and finance, do you think learning python (I alredy know at a decent level) will help me improve my chances of landing a job? And if I do, should I get one of those paid courses that give you a certificate to put on your CV or do I just learn by myself on youtube?

>>33842199Everyone knows programming these days with AI. You're not really special compared to the competition. I think you should just work on presentation and networking in your field. Also, look at the actual job requirements and get what's missing.

>>33842229How do i network? And do you mea by presentation?
>>33842272You have to meet people and talk. There are often networking meetings with that purpose. The more people know you and your expertise, the higher your chances of getting hired when a spot is available. And presentation is how you present yourself to others and how you look. If you're too autistic/odd/uninteresting, then you decrease your chances of someone thinking about you when a spot frees itself.
>>33842314So I should look for networking events and just go and talk with people? Im very bad at talking and socializing, wich is why i failed all my interviews back when they called me. Its gonna be hard.
>>33842199Worth a shot. You'll know within a month if it's your thing or not.
>>33842199I don’t think certificates are really worth anything, but someone who was employed in business or finance and knows Python is definitely worth something. Even if you are able to demonstrate basic competence in Python, that would make you ideal for certain positions.
>>33842727Yes, networking events exist for that purpose. Everyone there comes for that. Just print some business cards to give people so you look more professional. And don't stress, because people who go there are probably also like you (bad at socializing), which is why they need to network since they didn't build one naturally like "social butterflies" do.
