I did an evaluation of how many hinge dates ive been on since September. Out of ~80 matches, i got maybe 25 to agree to meet, 19 of them actually followed through and met, 7 resulted in additional dates, and only 1 truly progressed to "seeing" eachother for a span of like 2 months but never officially were a couple.
If thats your metric for success then I could imagine that seems pretty grim.

Fwiw though im also looking for a legit connection, someone i would eventually want to marry. If I had been looking for casual relationships/hookups then im sure i couldve made at least a third of those dates more "successful"

- People actually want to be talked to in most settings. Unless it's like the gym or public transit, people even expect that strangers will talk to them in a place like a bar.
- Talk to everyone. It's going to be super uncomfortable and feel performative at first, but this is how you practice. Make small talk with the next cashier or server you interact with. If you go to a party, make a point to introduce yourself to everyone.

- Always look happy to see someone you've already met. Smile when you see them and say hi. This goes a long way with building relationships.
