Kinda this, the current scientific consensus is that it didn't have feathers, and if it did, they were sparse and thin like an elephant.
Also eternal reminder, when people mention "feathers" on a dinosaur, they aren't usually talking about giant eagle flight feathers, but little fucked up hair filaments that in some cases would be nearly indistinguishable from fur or fuzz.

90% of the time when you think scientists lied to you, it was actually reporters, advertisers, and politicians misrepresenting scientific research or discussion on purpose. They'll take a small squabble between two groups of scientists over something without enough evidence to conclude on, pick a side, and loudly declare it's a fact when almost nobody in the scientific community would back such a claim.

>almost nobody
And you can be sure they will find that "almost nobody" and get him to shill whatever point they want

True to an extent, but we have a fair number of instances of scientists lying and outright misrepresenting their findings for the purpose of an agenda, this is why its useful to learn how to digest the data yourself rather than relying on a mouthpiece to explain it but of course most people simply don’t have care or have the time for it so they fall back on the ‘scientists’ and tabloids and shit.
