The most prominent types of parrots are smaller ones like the budgies and cockatiels. Maybe a conure or lovebird.

In Brazilian Portuguese we distinguish between papagaios (parrots) and araras (macaws). We have a species that we call the true parrot (papagaio verdadeiro), but you know it as the turquoise-fronted amazon.
