There are 2 group of ants in my wall, at first I thought they were gathering food but upon close inspection I noticed that they are grabbing on a bigger ant in the center.Blowing them to try to disperse doesn't help, they refuse to leave. What causes this? It's the first time I've seen it.I don't have a photo with me, but it's similar to this one I found on reddit.
>>4828194On each of the 2 groups there's a big ant surrounded by smaller ants. They're all alive.
Queen ant and her hardworking daughters.
Here is a picture I just took.Touching them also doesn't disperse them.My theory is that these are 2 queens about to give birth and the other ants are waiting to carry the eggs.
>>4828202Unlikely>>4828242I think those are "soldiers" or "macros", who frequently are significantly larger than normal workers, not queens. It's probably two groups from the same hive, that smell something they want to bring home and can't figure out how to collect it. Could be a cleaning chemical that smells sweet or some old food that left residue.
>>4828194>>4828246It is in fact a queen, majors will usually have large heads or jaws since they are specialised in defense or prey capture and dismemberment. I think they might be Argentine ants, which are a pain to get rid of and can have many queens and satellite nests to a colony

>>4828194I would spray this shit with ant spray.
