why do boomers hate nature so fucking much?

>boomer dad owns a few acres of forest behind the house
>used to explore it with my brother and dogs when we were kids
>find cool sticks, see frogs in the pond hidden inside
>2 years ago
>dad has 80% of the entire thing chopped down
>bulldozes all of the topsoil into the pond
>didn't even have a plan for the clearing
>just saw trees and decided they should die
>openly regrets doing it now
>as of today it is still desolate because he mows down any pioneer species

>boomer neighbour has a massive pine out front
>return one day to see it debranched
>cut it down the next day
>he was worried it would fall over
>the tree was a healthy old growth older than him
>aka last fucking tree that would ever fall down in a storm

>boomer fuck owns property on opposite side of road from river
>decides to illegally log all of the trees against the riverbank
>beach is now littered with tree debris and other garbage hes too lazy to dispose of
>sun's reflection off the water now blinds drivers during morning/evening rush
>all just to boost his property value

all the beauty of where i grew up is being slowly destroyed by these dying pricks and anyone i vent to thinks im stupid for caring.
>>
>>4898382
I don't think it's hate, I think it's more not giving a fuck. To them, they have already experienced the nature and they have no use for it anymore because they will die soon. So it is easier to destroy any chance of sudden fallen trees, or kill them before they die naturally and harbor termites, or to have a better view of the waterfront, etc. Boomers are well known for only giving a fuck about themselves. Boomers especially have a fucking huge fear of trees falling.
Bought a house with a few acres and the old boomer owners had a fuck huge burn pit that scorched a dozen trees by it. They also brought a ton of rocks in to lay at the bases of the remaining trees, which if you don't know is fucking awful for them. They tied metal fence like wire to one tree, have metal braided wire around another, both of these choking off trees. Most of these trees are pines or hickory.
They wrapped a metal chain holding a swing around a major limb of a large magnolia which effectively killed it - our neighbors were actually mad at us for taking the swing down because their kids played on it. Literally a month later the branch the swing was on fell. Fucking retards.
>>
>>4898382
Who cares? There are planets with the kind of life your mind couldn't possibly comprehend millions of light years away from any human and you are winning about a couple trees
>>
based boomers the true agents of chaos.
best you can hope for is he gives you the property and you can restore it and hope you dont go down the same path he did
>>
>>4898397
he is and thats what im doing. in fact im already in the process of restoring the pond. im planning to make it into lightly treed shrubland full of edible native plants. that way it can provide tonnes of food for wildlife as it recovers.

My father is obsessed with constantly spraying carcinogenic bug or weed killer all over the place and simply ignores me when I offer to do it instead with non-toxic alternatives (diatomaceous earth and vinegar weed killer)
He also trims trees way too often and at the wrong times of year even when I directly inform him of this
I hate him so much
>>
>>4898405
Stop visiting him (for your own health). Then when he gets cancer, just keep sending him memes of all the sprays he used with the carcinogens highlighted.

They're retarded. They don't have an agenda, they're just dumb and have as much foresight as the average teenager they complain so much about. You also have managed to surround yourself with idiots. Work on changing that first.
>>
My dad and stepmom are fucking retarded about this too.
>Before my parents divorce, live in rural place
>Dad and new wife decide to move to rural place again because the city sucks
>Move to nice house with lots of nature
>destroy half of it for stupid excessive projects and because they hate nature
They also constantly rake the pine needles for literally no goddamn reason

>dad sees ant

That's the problem with Jewish religions like Christianity and Islam, they're told the world and everything in it was made special just for them so they don't respect anything.
At least most polytheistic or animism-based religions avoid the usual monotheistic contradictions by having apathetic dieties/spirits creating for their own sake.

Lol, I don't want to shit on boomers too much because they're an easy target, but come on. That seems like a deeply ingrained hatred for nature.
Your >>4898391 story too, even if you say it's not hate, that almost seems like a deliberate way to fuck with trees as much as it is in their capacity, which doesn't have to be good or bad, it's just very noticeable
>>

you have to realize how boomers grew up. they were smack dab in the middle of that typical image of an american family in the suburbs with white picket fence and neatly-trimmed radioactive green lawn. that is the ultimate status symbol to them. maybe the more intrepid dads would take the family vacationing in actual nature every now and then but i'm willing to bet many did not and only knew a suburban hellscape all their childhood. weird things like trees and bushes and flowerbeds and gardens where the lawn should be cause them to act out with petty contempt and other passive-aggressive woman behaviors but deep down it frightens them. it's unnatural to them.

The big, old cypress tree that was half the reason I bought my house started dying so I had to cut it down. I'm so sad bros. My old neighbors hated me for it, but when I showed them the holes in the stump from where it was rotting from the inside they mourned with me. If I had gotten the property a few years before maybe I could have saved it.
>>
>>4898803
This is very much the reality of the situation. It’s why they also view the use of poison as a first and not last resort. They’ve got this hyper-fixation on having as much of uniform, perfectly extruded, homogeneous, factory finish aesthetic because to them that is a symbol of success. Otherwise you’re a hippie or a hillbilly and definitely poor. Poors can’t afford to chemically castrate a whole field. The worst shock I ever had in this respect was this ‘exterminator’ vendor coming to my house trying to sell shit. One of the things he tried to convince me to do was pay him to poison the spiders on the outside of my house. This was considered a marketable service by him. It’s a really soul killing, rotten ideology.
>>
>>4898905
Cats arent allowed outdoors. Dogs only have to be outside max 3 hours a day.
>>
This thread is actually making me hate my dad less, because it's helping me realize/remember that he was just born into a generation of obligate retards and that it was never reasonable to hold him to human standards.
>>
>>4898474

>One of the things he tried to convince me to do was pay him to poison the spiders on the outside of my house. This was considered a marketable service by him.
I don't know whose fault it is, but spiders really need someone to redo their branding, people will stomp or poison them without a thought to their usefulness or if they even pose any danger at all

>it's another episode of "evil most often manifests as uncaringness and ignorance of one's own actions"
/x/ was right again
I just think this thing has to do some kind of psychological issues though. You can dominate a completely passive landscape and find reasons to have it obliterated so you can fulfill your need for control and a semblance of power. It's useless, destructive, by no means necessary, but it requires less work than actively thinking about creative and constructive ideas. My dad did the same in his garden. The beautiful old ass tree at the end of it got wrecked because much branches too big. Silly geese. The lot of em.
>>
Most people won't think twice and realize they are the product of a generation, and have ideas of what is valuable or not that could be really destructive. In this regard it is important to educate people on the impermanent nature of what they instinctively consider as fruitful. To the industry corporate footsoldier, hyper normality fixated on a few key artificial artifacts equals not only success but also tokens representative of a good life. In the desolation of nature, in the celebration of unsustainable artificiality they will rejoice and find joy. The rich white hippie family will have other such tokens and artifacts. And so will the butchery work who lives paycheck to paycheck. It's not about us. It never was about us. We are transitory, and we matter only as much as we can preserve what is objectively (meaning not personally) fruitful, and as much as we fight against what is objectively destructive. Nature doesn't descriminate, and we should be thankful for this. Otherwise, we would have been wiped a long time ago for the horrendous little pest we can be.
>>
>>4899459
This is unfortunately not tinfoil hat bullshit. It is 100% true. Chemical companies lobbied like motherfuckers for the better part of the last century to both change government regulation and public image in their favor in order to sell more garbage that they knew/know was not good for people or the environment. Here are some of the more egregious examples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtcXXbuR244 Convincing natives in Kenya DDT is safe to eat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2EtxYxEKww Spraying DDT directly onto children to prove it's safe.
Now they do the same shit today with the latest non-banned substances.

Found him chilling out underneath the mail box, looked up what spider he was and learned that they were harmless, so I left him alone. When my 70+ year old mom came home she spazzed out and ripped him down like an animal. Still really bothers me to think back on. Humans can live in squalor and poverty for decades and never even care, but harmless stuff like this pushes them over? I really don't get it. Also had a little dogwood outside our house that she mangled for no reason. Was one of the few nice things in this rust bucket ghetto.

I think some of this stuff is generational, but most of it is age, which is easy to conflate with generational issues. Botched maintenance, suddenly deciding to clearcut land, ESPECIALLY the 'it might fall down' meme. Have you ever seen an elderly relative suddenly become afraid of flying?

My personal guess is that most of these boomers grew up in/near rural bumfuck due to low urbanization, and to them nature isn't particularly special or something to be "preserved", it's just kind of a nuisance

Lawns.

Too many people believe that you're not a good person unless you have a perfectly green, flat, and sterile lawn. No trees, no flowers, nothing useful about it at all, you probably shouldn't even walk on it. But you do need to waste tons of water growing it, pour pesticides all over it, and then when you cut it you have to make sure and dispose of the cuttings elsewhere, because it would be a shame if the nutrients were allowed to return to the soil. And once the grass starts struggling to grow because the soil is depleted, you need to go buy a bunch of artificial fertilizers (hopefully with pesticides included) and saturate the soil with it.

Rinse and repeat, all for no fucking reason.

Where I live it's common to plant fruit trees, berry bushes, flowers... Even longer back every neighbour had a little field they were growing potatoes, carrots and other root vegetables. "TREES could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this neighborhood before. There could be TREES anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his wrinkled forehead. "I HATE TREES" he thought. That'll Be The Day reverberated his entire car, making it pulsate even as the $0.50 peppermint circulated through his powerful thick throat and washed away his (unmerited) fear of trees near houses. "With an axe, you can cut anything you want" he said to himself, out loud.

>tfw ash tree planted in my front yard nigh on 30 years ago has fallen prey to emerald ash borer beetles and needs to be taken down

Oh well. I'm replacing it with a cluster of River Birches. I tried to transplant some river willows that sprout up along a small drainage ditch to line my driveway but the deer demolished all of them.

I was pissed about it but I don't begrudge the fuckers, as I enjoy watching them lay about in my yard and leave their fawns under the conifers that act as a property line barrier while they forage. Not like even more of them won't just grow again.

this is damage from Helene. I wouldn't say he got lucky but it could've been much worse, entire hillsides were flattened or slid away where I live
also you've got it backwards, deciduous trees have much deeper roots and are less likely to fall. he's dumb for having trees that tall near his house because they still drop branches, but it was a freak storm

>cut down the biggest tree because of the "it might fall" meme
There was a giant conker tree in my yard where I spent my early childhood years, I never found out how old it was, but it's possible it might have been planted around the time the place was built (~1800), you could see that tree rising far above the three story buildings that surrounded it. I went back to see what it's like, and it turns out that John Boomer decided it might fall and had it cut down, they also sectioned the big communal yard into gay little gardens that are half patio.

cause they grew up in a world where it was a common believe that nature and its resources were infinite. Now that most of them are elderly they just don't give a fuck about what they will leave to younger people, despite knowing how harmful their actions are environmentally.

>entire hillsides were flattened or slid away
Deep roots of large trees help to stabilize the soil which help prevent landslides. Many landslides have been caused by deforestation.

Some people even think lawns are too much.
>new house under construction in the neighbourhood
>owners are too lazy to deal with lawn care
>so they cover the entire plot with gravel
>only plant life left are a few exotic conifers

Trees won't prevent a landslide from happening ever, retard. That doesn't mean that clearing trees doesn't cause landslides.

why is your bot ass even talking about deforestation? I said flattened, as in all the trees were blown down during the storm
and yes, trees do PREVENT landslides. that's literally what your algorithm has been reciting. I assume you meant to say trees won't STOP a landslide that's already in progress, which is just another non sequitur
they stop PREVENTING landslides when enough water saturates and loosens the soil that the trees can be blown over or carried away with the ground around them

You guys are so lucky with those neighbors. My garden is the biggest in our neighborhood bc everybody else had houses built in theirs, and now they're all immensely jealous of mine. It has old apple trees and a plum tree and also a big vegetable patch and a huge hazel bush. I like to have it a bit unkempt with many flowers in between, and guess what, every single neighbor, all of them boomers and genX, let me know in one way or another that my garden is SO wiLd and ToO OverGrOwn, and that they wanted to buy some off me so that they could have a bit of lawn. I don't want to talk to anyone of them anymore.

About 80% of the trees that used to exist on my parent's property when I was born are no longer there.
The vast majority of them either fell, or died somehow and we removed it before it fell. Insects, mold, ivy vines. I'm not sure how they could have been saved.
>>
>>4906936
>ivy vines. I'm not sure how they could have been saved.
By pulling off the vines? Or just cutting them at the root if you're lazy? I'm replying to a bot, aren't I? It's disheartening that primitive AI is indistinguishable from low IQ humans.
