I kinda want to raise turkeys because chickens are for normalfags.
Don't care Didn't ask
>>4901673Do careDid ask Are you doing it to eat them or just because?
>>4901673What do turkey eggs taste like? Do turkeys even lay eggs? Why do I never see turkey eggs at the market?
>>4901781basically chicken eggs but bigger and more protein
>>4901673>do you feel in control?
>>4901673They're fun birds OP, and I like them more than chickens. Basically whatever maintainance you do for chickens, you'll have to upscale for even a few birds. However turks are very hardy and generally more friendly, plus they tear up the yard considerably less.>>4901781Turk eggs are much larger and tastier, superior in every way except one: quantity. They only lay seasonally and at a slower rate
>>4901781>Why do I never see turkey eggs at the market?turkeys are more expensive to raise and start laying them later then chickens and lesserprofit wise, better to let the turkey hatch and eat that rather then the egg. they do apparently taste better than chicken eggs though
>>4901673Turkey shit is a special kind of stink you have to stay on top of cleaning
>>4901881i mean, they do take bigger shits
>>4901673I got tons of turkeys around just wild ones, but they become tame and eat food I put on the ground for them. When it runs out they fly on my deck and eat bird seed off the floor. They leave some nasty shits up there sometimes but other than that they're pretty good company. 2 males hung around all summer and lost most of their fear of me, they will come running to eat if I throw them some sunflower seeds. Usually they just get scratch grains because that's cheaper ($15/50lb).
>>4901781I found a turkey egg with a hole in it in my yard, I think something like a raven took it and dropped it
>>4901746Just causeI might take their eggs tho
>>4902359Based. Do you have enough land for them?
>>4902366I think 1 acre is enough. Those 2 males that hung out in my yard all summer spent the whole time in less than an acre just chilling and eating. Except at night they would fly up to some trees further in the woods to be safe, but then early morning they'll come back to eat and not go very far for the whole day.And domestic turkeys don't even fly into trees to roost. But they probably have turkey fights like the wild ones that involves running around about an acre of land trying to wring each others necks and jumping into each other. They get over it pretty quickly and go back to pecking.
This is now a wild turkey thread.
>>4901781>Do turkeys even lay eggs?underage b&
>>4904385
>>4904387
>>4904388
>>4904389
>>4901881>>4901970If you feed them crushed lump charcoal then their shit won't stink as much.
>>4904397That's a strange lookin' turkey.
>>4904385>>4904387So these things are just like large pigeons in American cities?
>>4901673>I kinda want to raise turkeys because I'm a special snowflake that has an impulsive need to be different in order to inflate my already-low self-esteem.
>>4906261You can make really good money raising turkeys for Thanksgiving. Maybe he just wants that turkey bag.
>>4906273>Maybe he just wants that turkey bag.then he shouldn't have said something faggoty like "chickens are for normalfags"
>>4906296Oh yeah... owning any poultry or livestock is not really a normalfag activity. OP needs to get with it, for real.
>>4901673I'd rather fight 20 pissed Canadian geese than one bored wild turkey.
>>4906261>>4906296>getting this triggered over a jokeNot op but you're a loser, lmao
