>develop an extremely spicy flavour for your fruit as a defense mechanism against animals that might prey on you
>end up being consumed worldwide by humans because of your spicy taste that was originally supposed to repel them
Are hot peppers the most retarded plants out there?
>>
>>4905014
yes. coyotes eat them as well
>>
jokes on them, now theyre massively cultivated across the world!
>>
>be birdchad
>Live in the hot tropics where chilli peppers originate
>Evolve purposefully to be immune to capsaicin to enjoy the delicious and fruits those plants produce
>>
>>4905030
You have it the wrong way around. Capsaicin evolved not to bother birds.

>>4905027
My husky fucking loves them. I have to fence my peppers in or he’ll eat jalapenos right off the plant. I’ve seen some german shepherds that go straight for hot asian cooking as well.

Huge plant kingdom L

what about garlic? why did they evolve to be so delicious?

>Spread all over the world and has guaranteed safety by the apes cultivating it
It won
>>

The whole evolutionary purpose behind the fruit is to be eaten by an animal so it can disperse the seeds...
>>
>>4906232
bugs hate them
people love them
>>
>>4906378
Vampires too
>>
>>4905014
happened for peppers
happened for coffee beans
happened for weed
happened for coca leaves
happened for khat
amazing how all these pesticides we end up getting high off of

I live in Australia where they aren't native and I have 6 plants in my garden doing well
>>

>Are hot peppers the most retarded plants out there?
capsaicin dissuading all mammals *except humans* from eating them made them go from a species that only existed in the Andes to one that grows on every continent except Antarctica
Peppers won hard
>>
Wasn't there some onion copypasta that went something like
>be me
>be onion
>for some reason monkeys fucking LOVE eating me
>>
The seeds of Capsicum plants are dispersed predominantly by birds. In birds, the TRPV1 channel does not respond to capsaicin or related chemicals but mammalian TRPV1 is very sensitive to it. This is advantageous to the plant, as chili pepper seeds consumed by birds pass through the digestive tract and can germinate later, whereas mammals have molar teeth which destroy such seeds and prevent them from germinating. Thus, natural selection may have led to increasing capsaicin production because it makes the plant less likely to be eaten by animals that do not help it disperse

So aethists really believe that this stupid plant (with no brain according to them) just woke up one day and said "hmmm today I will evolve to be eaten only by birds who will then poop out my seeds and allow me to thrive while other plants are eaten and killed off by mammals" and then did it????
Come on!!!
>>
>>4906389
Yes, there is a purpose to traits that evolved, otherwise they would not have. What about this bothers you?

because you're obviously underage

nothing
I was laughing at you because you're retarded

it's not funny if I have to explain it.
>>
>>4907636
Oh, you're a faggot, I'm sorry for replying to you. My bad. You can keep smoking cock uninterrupted now.

you should be, idiot
>>
>>4907640
Remember, you have to kill yourself at some point, but its up to you when that happens. Good luck!
>>
>>4907642
a normal human would innately, immediately understand why and how evolution works without purpose.

you are not a normal human. You have the mind of a child, and not a very smart one.

>pur·pose
noun
noun: purpose; plural noun: purposes
the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.
The reason for peppers evolving capsaicin production is that millenia of consumption of its fruits by birds (beneficial) and mammals (detrimental) caused its production to be selected for as it favors its consumption by birds and disfavors its consumption by mammals. Its purpose is to cause it to be eaten by birds and not mammals.
I'd tell you to get raped, but you would probably enjoy it. I don't care how you reply to me, because i know it will be inane bullshit, so you have my permission to have fun making up whatever contrary to reality garbage your brain constructs and throwing any meaningless insults you fancy at me.
Remember, only you can commit suicide.
>inb4 u mad
>>
>>4907653
that's a purpose you (a very dumb human) assigned

all this happened before you existed, and it had no purpose. Purpose doesn't exist outside the minds of humans and a few other animals. Because we take things and use them for a novel purpose

plants have no purpose. They produce every possible variation and the ones that benefit the plant at a particular time and place stick around.

It's depressing you're too stupid to understand this. But maybe you're not retarded. Perhaps you're just a child and will grow out of your ignorance.
>>
>>4905014
If we were shitting in the woods like Indians that would probably help spread the seeds.
