Will it ever be topped? Why is it so good, in spite of it's flaws?
Doesn't have any flaws, prehistoric planet on the other hand....
>>4908951I’d call the fugly rex a bit of a flaw
>>4908951Even fucking Jurassic Park does a better job with its Rex. The WwD rex has this weird pointy thing at the top of its head, that odd pug nosed snout, eyes that are placed weirdly low on the face, cranial shrink-wrapping that makes it look like it's wearing a mask, a stubby tail, incorrectly posed and proportioned arms, weirdly compressed torso and this scrawny straight neck that makes it look like a bobblehead. It really looks like a cheap toy. This thing sucks, I thought so as a kid and I know so today. It's like they did a less rigorous study of contemporary skeletal remains than a Hollywood movie which is disappointing.
>>4908911It had consistent and good story-telling that felt relatively organic and did have genuine science input for it, even if its all dated now. With CGI and physical effects that were all pretty good. Not to mention, it was the first very successful introduction of the entire Mesozoic as most know it. Even today, 'New Blood' remains as one of the few depictions of the Triassic.
They did a great job at establishing each ecosystem.
For me, it’s Walking with Cavemen
The WWD 2 dinosaurs will all look like PP ones and it will be BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
>>4908911I don't think so. The atmosphere and music has never come close to being matched. I even doubt the upcomming sequel will get close
>>4908989But its color scheme is sick so it is all forgiven
>>4909050>With CGI and physical effects that were all pretty good. They actually managed to do this quite well, especially blending of the two. Even if the CGI is quite dated sometimes, due to using real background footage is looks more realistic than modern documentaries that are full computer graphics. >it was the first very successful introduction of the entire Mesozoic as most know itDinosaur cast is quite diverse if you think about it, it is good mix of well known dinos and obscure ones, both from different areas and periods. >The atmosphere and music has never come close to being matched.Ben Bartlett did an excellent job with this one, and no prehistoric documentary has managed to be just as atmospheric, especially coupled with special effects.
>>4908911For the sequel they better have the theropods roar, the pterosaurs shriek and the sauropods make whale noises or i'm not watching it
>>4908911It has the ugliest t-rex and allosaurus i have ever seen
>>4908989Apparently the guy who was making the model quit halfway and they hired another one to rush it out which explains why it's so fucking hideous.
>>4909241The Ankylosaurus is pretty stinky too. I really like art that takes the iconic 10/10 colorations from WWD and puts them in better looking designs

>>4909398
>>4909054I didn't know the walking with cinematic universe had that many shows. I was only aware of Dinosaurs and Beasts.
the salt plain battle was the peak of paleodocs. nowadays they'd be too preoccupied with making dinosaurs "aCt LiKe REAL aNiMAlS"
