releasing a mouse into an alien environment is guaranteed to kill them and taking a wild rodent to the SPCA is a laughable abuse of their resources.

Brother, there is a reason they can become vermin in the first place, it'll be fine.

a rat or an extremely large mouse got its arm snapped in a trap, i think it was still alive because i think it was breathing a little but wasnt responsive and i guess it went to shock because it was in there for at least 20 hours because nobody noticed it until it got stuck somewhere because it ran away with the trap when i stumbled upon it

Poor little mouse.
>>
>>4924226
Dumbfucks like you have never come home to find mouse shit all over your kitchen and a mouse in your bedroom. Just so you know, I immediately set 4 traps out, last night and heard 2 SNAPS at 3am. Just tossed'em into the woodpile. I hope you feel as kind to them, when they chew the fucking wires off your car and leave you stranded.
>>
>>4927293
>when they chew the fucking wires off your car and leave you stranded.
Chipmunks got my last car, made a nest under the fusebox.
Reverse lights stopped working, then high beams, then one day there was no throttle.
>>
>>4927302
Mice nailed the wires on my knock sensor. I was driving along at 45mph and the motor fell on it's fucking face and went into "limp mode". It's common on 4cyl Toyotas - there's a nice warm little cubbyhole, under the intake, that mice absolutely love. Four hours to pull everything apart, solder the wires and change the $50 sensor.
>>
>>4927311
NTA, I had a 2013 mini cooper that had multiple wires chewed through because BMW decided to coat them all in fucking onions.

Buddy i breed em and gas em for my snakes iv killed alooot of baby rats and i mean a fuck ton. They are just food, do you cry at the mcdonalds drive through for the cow?
>>
>>4924226
If you release a rat they will come right back unless you take time out of your day to drop them far away where a hawk is gonna get them anyway. I don't use snap traps since mice don't trigger them a lot of the time. Bucket traps work a lot better.
I definitely prefer not to have rats chewing on the wiring in my car. Sometimes I'll bait them and use an air rifle with a thermal. Can't get rid of the fuckers despite being able to bag 20+ in one night.
>>
>>4929282
You're supposed to feed your snakes with live preys, no need to gas them Herr Goebbels.
>>
>>4924226
good, I hate mice
>>
>>4924226
I love mice/rats and think they're super cute, but you gotta do what you gotta do. They'll fuck up all of your insulation and wiring if you let them. I try to use the plastic jaw traps in my garage in hopes it'll kill them faster and am constantly trying to keep up with sealing all points of entry, but they're clever.

Honestly wondering if a bucket trap with water to drown them would be more humane or not.

Some day I'll get a pet rat named Cody and treat him good to make up for all my wrongdoing.
>>
I once beat a mouse to death with a baseball bat. My cat wounded him and I tried putting him out of his misery. It took several hits. I love rodents but I also don't want pests in my house
>>
>>4929474
Shovel to the head is my go to when I find them still alive in a trap. I try to honor them the best I can after. Maybe I should start a miniature mouse graveyard behind the house to give them a proper burial.
>>
>>4929353
Live prey can harm the snake. Its better to give em the gas so neither prey or predator feel pain.
>>
>>4929479
or better yet gas yourself

Might as well ask here: I just moved into a new place that's nice otherwise but has quite the mouse problem. Just caught two of the little fuckers munching a fresh loaf of bread I bought. What's the quickest and the most efficient way to be rid of them?
>Don't kill the little mousies! They dindu nuffin!
Give me a humane way to evict them all, then.

Mice are neophobic, if you drop them off far away enough so that they can't find their way back, they'll be completely terrified

When I had mice in the house I used an electric zapper, kills em nice and quick

snaptraps, and sticky traps for places where theres not enough clearance for snaptraps, but you should figure out where theyre coming from first, killing them is not really an option if they keep coming back to piss and shit everywhere

>sticky traps
Desu people generally aren't responsible enough with these. They necessitate checking twice daily with your hammer ready to quickly dispatch the little guy's. People aren't up for it and either leave them to either starve to death or gnaw off a limb to escape
Ultimately it's what ceases neural activity rapidly is the most humane where live trapping won't with. That's why snap traps or below are often better

that looks like a house mouse meaning that assuming the majority of anons are American, letting a house mouse into the wild is probably going to either result in its death or damage the local ecosystem. Either way a bad idea.

NTA but they destroyed the fusebox in my last car, made a nest and nibbled wires, shorted a headlight wire to some the throttle controller, melted 4 wires.
I'm lucky the wire harness didn't burst into flames.
>>
i just leave them bing chilling, they have no reason to come inside so they just stay outside in their little holes
>>
just left a trap
saw one of those fuckers in the fridge

My grandpa used to use the cage trap and burn them alive.
>>
Dealt with a fucking mouse infestation for the past year and it's over now.
What stood out to me was hearing a snap. I immediately went over to look, and the mouse was stuck on just it's ankle. It made convulsions for like 10 seconds and died on the spot through nothing but shock and pain.

A different mouse got snapped clean through the middle of it's belly. It was still wriggling alive for 20 minutes or so, gnawing on it's arm all the while.

Mouse resilience is a strange thing.

Nobody ever believes me though.

If I was a 1/100th of the mouse size would it let me run around its burrow shitting my disease ridden shits everywhere?

no
>>
>>4924235
I once volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary which had a mouse infestation. The staff didn't want me to set up mouse traps 'because we help these animals', so I just put up cage traps, then officially admit the mice I caught to the sanctuary and had them care for them
