What should I do about this little guy? He's crawling around and can't fly. He's trying to crawl into the street
>>4931579idk maybe call some local animal service or something? where the fuck are you living, my guess would be no one here knows how to deal with these things
>>4931579Ideally, you get professional help.Im not a vet so I dont know how to treat it if its injured, you may just want to take it somewhere and let nature sort it out. Either way, get some thick leather gloves to protect yourself from bites if you plan on picking it up, I don't know if south American bats carry rabies like the northern ones, but I wouldn't want to take that chance.
>>4931579DO NOT TOUCH. DO NOT HANDLE AT ALL. Difficulty flying can be a symptom of rabies. Call wildlife services or your local equivalent. Anyone responding must have a current rabies vaccine. Keep your distance and warn others off if you have the time.
>>4931579Put that little shit in the blender
>>4931579Go get a pot or pan. You can make some nice soup from that thing.

>>4931597Bats always have trouble getting off the ground without climbing. But you're right, no reason to mess with it more than absolutely necessary. plop a box over it or something and call services.
OP here. I couldn't find the number for animal control so I put it in a box and left it outside an animal shelter that handles exotic animals. I also touched it, am I going to get rabies?
>>4931631You deserve it for not killing that little shit
>>4931631sorry anon, you'll die foaming at the mouth as you try to pick fights with strangers in the street
>>4931668Then I'll die as I lived
>>4931631If you're still wondering: no. Rabies requires fluid to blood contact, so if it didn't bite or scratch you, you're good.
>>4931698does mouth kissing or oral sex count?
>>4931699unfortunately that bat eats mostly fruit so you're unlikely to have rabies, but if it's a male you might be a homosexual
>>4931732>an animal that lives in massive colonies usually in places with other bats and animals is "unlikely to have rabies"That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Half the reason bats are such a huge disease reservoir is their colonial nature the other half is high mobility aiding potential exposure. It's supposed that's how even ebola made it into primates partially eaten/dropped fruit from these things.
>>4931579mmm soup(just kidding, I'm not chinese)
>>4931579Grab a shovel.
>>4931631There's normally specific bat shelters that you can call for a pickup
>>4931579Looks like a flying fox bat. Are you in Australia?https://www.wildlife.vic.gov.au/our-wildlife/flying-foxes/flying-foxes-and-your-health

>>4931579Trans him...
>>4931579Aren’t bats the most diseased animals you could possibly touch?
>>4933007Clearly you haven’t met my coworker. His name’s Amar, and he once shit in an empty espresso cup and then got it mixed up with a full one.
