Shamokin is a desolate coal mining town within close proximity to the ghost town of Centralia which was evacuated decades ago due to an underground anthracite mine fire.
The surrounding areas are third-world tier.
t. Native Pennsylvanian with the accent to prove.

Hey look, kid, if you wanna go live in a shack surrounded by rednecks and out of work coal miners in a decaying town that's probably unsafe to live in due to sinkholes and carbon monoxide, be my guest.
>>
>>58693610
Literally says it's a remote position.

Looks comfy.

I wonder how the Dunkin is doing or if it's still even open.
>>
At least near Hershey Park and Knobels. And only 2 and a half hours away from Breezewood.

scrolled through the downtown of this place and 4 out of every 10 buildings are abandoned and the ones still standing are so old and deteriorating. Why are businesses leaving? Hmmmm. The only decent thing about living here is that you are close enough to see the hot women at bloomsburg university but if you cared about that you would just live there instead. This house is on arguable the poorest street in the town, look at the houses on 6th street for example in comparison. Making friends here would be hard because you would instantly be a social outcast for living on 2nd

Why even bother to build something so small if its not a hunting camp?

Oh nice lets set the limits to something 3 towns over now you have to pay even more in taxes because the place you work in is most likely going to have higher taxes than that place because there is nothing there. If you search for something just within shamokin city limits, and lower the limit to 70k there are only 12 jobs available. PA is a great place to live in but this town and even more specifically this house are just not ideal investments. Better off being in a town closer to state college as there will always be businesses looking to get money off college kids maxing out their 1st credit card

t. New J*rseyan planning to move to that area when he retires in three years

Chinese housing prices have dropped 30% in the last few years, they are still way more unaffordable than housing in the US, and major companies have already begun to default
>>
>>58693601
yeah isn't the fire still going on to this day due to all the coal? lol
>>
>>58694592
Supposedly, but there haven't been any signs of smoke in years.
I visit Central PA every few months or so to see family, and sometimes I venture through Centralia with my GoPro.
It's mostly just empty streets and overgrown brush now.

Now do this thread again, but for the UK.

The UK equivalent would be some shithole in Birmingham.
>>
>>58694436
china is not comparable to the rest of the world though, real estate is the only alternative to letting your money rot in a bank account that people there have
>>
>>58694625
I took my nephew there in February and there’s still plenty of smokers and hot spots.

>>58693596

It's better to stay in India like a king for 70k than to move to American coal mining towns that are 1000 miles from new york
>>
>>58695308
It's only 3 hours from NYC. You would br shocked at how quickly things turn from city into appalachia. PA and Upstate NY are beautiful but they're both total shitholes
>>
>>58693601
Oh is that the place where Silent Hill was based off? Who the fuck wants to live there? I don't want to get raped by Pyramid Head.
>>
>Pennsyltucky
you'd have a better quality of life homeless on some city street
>>
>>58695321
that's not actually that bad if you have 3 days from home.
is that commuting distance or is commuting distance supposed to be 1.5 hours?
>>
>>58695328
Yes, it was vaguely inspired by Centralia.
There's a lot of urban legends and misinformation about it.
YouTube documentaries will claim it's a creepy ghost town that has flames and smoke shooting up from the ground.
In reality it's <4 houses scattered around a hilly, mountainous region full of dead-end streets covered in graffiti with torn up sidewalks and overgrown vegetation.
There are however a bunch of cemeteries there which still remain, and they're maintained by nearby boroughs.
but if you're looking for anything "spooky", it's long gone.
It's just hiking trails, tall grass, and spray paint.

>>58695343
It's 3 hours one way from where I live in current traffic conditions. The distance is about 180 miles so traffic must be okay right now. This is definitely outside of daily commuter distance but weekend visits are doable

>1875 sqft lot
Do PAcucks really?

op what do you get out of shilling these shitholes in shithole towns? i have seen you post this type of thread literally 20 times at least and i barely browse biz
