yeah Celo is very active in the crypto-for-impact world, there are some cool projects on it

they joined the Optimism superchain ecosystem and i think are focusing on mobile-first functions so basically making a bet on providing DeFi microfinance type services to people without computers in the global south

now that you mention it, i don't know if celo did a pre-mine and how that influenced tokenomics when they went over to being an ETH L2 on OP's superchain

my instinct is that they are owned by VCs and probably fairly corrupt when you get right down to how powerful the foundation is, but they are at least ostensibly using their power for good in a way that most blockchain foundations don't
