You may have noticed a few of my negative posts about Tether recently. You probably dismissed them as fud. You're free to think whatever you want and right now you're free to invest however you want but that is all going to change. MiCA is the beginning of the regulatory capture of crypto. December 30th is the deadline for Tether in Europe. They have two choices. They can either obtain a money transmit license (which is a very complicated and time-consuming process), or partner with a bank (which exposes them to the same scrutiny and reporting requirements). They have already stated they have no intention of doing either. That's their choice. However, that also means on December 30th, they are completely out of Euro markets. Period. Endgame. And for you Americans that think you don't have to care, this is called a global framework for a reason. Tether is playing a very unwise game of chicken with established finance and the EU. When rolling out a brand new set of rules, there's nothing quite like making an example out of a really big fish to keep the rest of the fish in line. Welcome to the new shit.
