I work as an engineer on board ships and as far as I see it, repeal of the Jones Act would totally destroy the US maritime industry. Although I do recognize it increases the cost of consumer goods.

Republicans have generally been against the jones act, John McCain was famously. Project 2025 calls for its repeal. Most of my co workers are Republicans yet I can't see how they look past this. The US maritime industry will go the way that textile mills did in the 80s/90s.

You’d probably have better conversations over at /n/ mtg maritime general. Jones Act is nice because as a sailor your company has to pay for your medical expenses while on the ship
