>"do what you love"Every time I see a job or role that I think I like and could live with I don't get that role. I don't understand the boomer advice, did they really unironically just walk into the Fun Job Factory, shake the WWII vet owner's hand and say "sir, I want to work for you" at 30 years of age in 1985 after they got tired of smoking weed and not paying child support for 10 years? I am genuinely baffled at how anyone could ever possibly offer 'advice' that basically amounts to "my 30yo son doesn't know what he wants to do, that's why he works as a spelunking rescuer for some reason" no bitch I work a shitty job I hate because it was the only job that hired me, I have no choice in this matter.
>>59569195do you only want money? then yeah, your options are limited. but you don't have to work for money. in fact it's probably easier than ever to focus on what you love. what will you eat and where will you sleep? that's a good question. but there are almost certainly people who will support you if you are passionate enough about your thing and engage with them. people throughout history have struggled while doing what they love instead of waging on some meaningless job. it's your life anon, you can do whatever you want.
>>59569195have you tried being skilled?
>>59569212>>59569214I want to be a warlord in an anarchic hellscape. How do I achieve this?
>>59569226do you really want that or do you just like the idea of it?
>>59569226There are tons of those positions actually though they're very competitive. In the us you still need to go to college to be in the higher ranks of the military.
>>59569226people who become warlords in anarchic hellscapes are the kind of people of land a fun job factory position with a firm handshake. best you can hope for is to become the warlords favorite sissy.
yeaboomers walked into jobs at 19-22 and just stayed there the rest of their lives making 100k+ a yearThen they tell young people to work harder
>>59569195>fun>job
unironically yeah you're rightwestern boomers are the most privileged generation. they grew up in the most prosperous time the human race has ever seen and are confused why the newer generations are struggling when the economic and social landscape is fucked beyond belief.
>>59569369boomers live in million dollar homes and wonder why their kids moved 2 hours away
>>59569226It's lord of war
>>59569374Boomers own multiple properties and complain that youngin don't want to pay overpriced rent.
Boomers are out of touch in the biggest way.>But the interest rate was 17% in my day! 4% is nothing, just get a mortgage, stop being lazy and "get yourself out there"Yeah, 17% on a house that cost some pocket change you earned at half a weeks work at the drive in movie.
>>59569395just work in the summer to pay for a car + tuition you lazy bum
>>59569395This. Who cares what boomers think anyway, you can never convince them since their brains are fossilized. They lived through a golden era and we’re not
>>59569195>>"do what you love"they have it backwards. it's better to love what you do. you can argue that its semantic, but its actually the opposite vector, and is much better. if you start from knowing what you love and then try to find someone to pay you for it, you'll fail, or end up on onlyfans. If you start by accepting some kind of job that'll pay well enough and then try to figure out how to love it, you'll improve. You'll improve either at the job itself, or you'll improve at paying attention to what's going on that's interesting, which is a win-winbut yah trust boomers to have the right ingredients to advice but put it backwards to everyone, thus making what could be a helpful thing just painful until corrected
>>59569413>Gaslight yourself into loving being a wagie bitchboi
>>59569459The real world is hard. Grow up.
>>59569459>>Gaslight yourself into loving being a wagie bitchboithat type of dominant-submissive mentality is what's causing you pain. life is about going somewhere, you can only do that if you learn to grow. "wagie bitchboi" means what exactly? wherever you start will be the "bottom" IF you grow further, so the only way to avoid starting at the bottom is to never start at all. Conversely, if you start at the top, the only direction you can go is down. You don't know shit. Pull your thumb out of your ass and wash your hands. Your mentality is the same as a street-shitter's
>>59569195>>59569238>>59569369The financial situation did not get worse. Its the women who got worse and thats why young people are not motivated
>>59569195>I don't understand the boomer adviceThat's because they don't understand what they say. It just sounds good and they think it makes them sound wise when in reality it's just bullshit.
>>59569226just find a way to haiti and then go nuts
>>59569607what? so you mean i can just walk into any factory thats down the block from my highschool and get a job paying a living wage?oh wait you shipped all the factories overseasand the only jobs are at mcdonalds paying 7.25 an hour
>>59569195I literally cannot get a job because they just hire people with masters and shitI'm going to start heavily lying on my CV
>>59569195>did they really unironically just walk into the Fun Job Factory, shake the WWII vet owner's hand and say "sir, I want to work for you" at 30 years of age in 1985 after they got tired of smoking weed and not paying child support for 10 years?Yes. But the question is why did it get so bad? How do we go back to the economic conditions of old? To me, if you think of capitalism as a balance between workers and industry, then globalization is like a one-sided infinite money glitch for the corporations. And if there's one growing constant since the "good times", it's that. They don't need to be hiring you OR selling you shit anymore, despite existing in and benefiting from your country. Doesn't that completely destroy the balance of things? So I personally just think that a little bit of nationalist policy would go long way, even if it temporarily hurts some companies and makes some graphs go down.
