Any tips for when you're traveling for work? I'm gonna be in Reading UK from April to June then in Swindon UK for a couple months after mid July. I'll make $49/hour and get $108 every day I'm there for meals and incidentals. I don't need to pay for my lodging but where I'm staying hasn't been decided. I get to pick my hotel too which is up to $90 a day

Does the OP pic work?

Is the $108 an automatic gimme, or do you have to submit receipts for it?

The time I was on a travel assignment, they didn't require receipts unless it was over $25, so I just told them I went to McDonald's for a couple of Egg McMuffins every morning. Free money every day for doing nothing. And my company didn't care since they were billing the client for the expenses anyway -- I think they even made a profit by charging a handling fee. I banked an extra $40K over two years doing that.

OP i also have done traveling gigs, your pic is quite silly. just don't spend the most and find reasonable hotel chains. i've noticed some are quite nice and don't charge alot, and others like the hilton chains get a surcharge for their name.
me personally i stayed in the "cheaper" hiltons because they usually weren't much more than the others but just about any national chain is quite safe and "clean".

pick a hotel within walking distance to some places you actually want to go: bars, parks etc. How you spend the per diem is up to you. I normally treat myself and eat out at nice places, but I know people who will go to a grocery store to buy food so they can save the per diem. for a five day trip it can be like 500 Bucks! bring your own toiletries. I don't trust the hotel ones
