I was starting to feel optimistic about crypto with trumps apparent executive orders, SEC overhaul and many other things.
Then he goes and released a meme coin to rug everybody which just makes crypto seem like one huge joke again.
Genuinely think he is now only trying to be positive about crypto for his own gain and I can't see it ending well now.
Seriously I was a big trump fan, but which president thinks it's a good idea to make a meme coin when they are about to be in charge of a very large country?

Massively gone down in my expectations.

You know what is the worst thing?
Trump has nothing to do with this. This whole scheme was orchestrated by his inner circle and his community manager.

at this point it's elder abuse

I’ve been trying to put into words why I think this is so strange and yet so inevitable too. You know tokenization is weird, because it’s making money more and more a proxy for anything, even just random sentiments. It’s a perfect reflection of how hollow the concept of value has become.

What we’re seeing isn’t just the digitization of assets; it’s the commodification of literal meaning. In some ways, it’s the ultimate form of disconnection from reality.

We’ve reached a point where something can be worth millions purely because it sparks a trend or appeals to a specific crowd, even though it has no tangible use or substance.

Tokenization is becoming a way to sell us our own projections — it’s so cyberpunk and yet almost like some weird graduated marketing — why sell you a thing when I can just sell you the idea of a thing?

>15 yo thinking saying something Keynes said 100 years ago is profound because he added cyberpunk
Everyone’s already known that the perpetual growth model of capitalism has been heading here. When there’s nothing left to sell we sell each other nothing.

I will continue to hold Bitcoin as I have done since 2016 and then I will sell this year and be out forever. I have more than 95% of my family's net worth in Bitcoin. I have made a lot of money in it, but I despise the subculture it has produced and want nothing more than to distance myself from it as much as possible. I am getting to the point where the money to be made in Bitcoin could inevitably be made in the S&P 500 in a shorter and shorter timeframe, possibly under 10 years now, and I wonder every day if waiting 10 years in stock indices is better than another year in crypto.
