>>59664704My rent hasn't gone up since I became a tenant 5 years ago. Fully furnished apartment near my office. I pay under $700 and utilities are extremely affordable. I'm pretty sure the landlord messed up and never claimed my rental income. Also, a realtor friend of mine asked me how I have an apartment when the house I'm in is zoned for single family residence. The other tenant is in the main house and I'm in an add-on "mother in law's suite". I think legally the landlord is supposed to treat us like roommates but instead i'm 90% sure she just takes my cash and doesn't report it. I guess it would be difficult to replace me or raise my rent.
>>59665414That's how it is with me, my basement isn't technically a legal suite so I just pocket the rent.
